Cameta camera is selling refurbished 30-110mm f/3.8-5.6 VR lens for only $125 on eBay.

I bought a refurbished 30-110mm from KEH (through Amazon), and it works and looks like new. Hopefully the Cameta refurbed lenses are as good. This is a very sharp lens with VR good for 4 stops or more. IMO the 30-110 is a must have for the Nikon 1 cameras, and at this low price, very affordable as well!

I got mine for $169 direct from Cameta w/ free shipping, so that is a great price. Both my J1 and lens are refurbed and they look and function as new with 90 day warranty.

The lens gives roughly the same field of view as those 75-300mm zooms in 35mm film. I've had a few of those and they all kind of went murky past 200mm. This lens is so small and performs much better at the tele end. There is some loss in quality at 110mm wide open but it is not bad like those old zooms were. It gets even better when stopping down.

It is the current longest compact tele we have in the N1 system without having to resort to adapters so I recommend it. Now to get Nikon to make a 150mm f/4 prime!

I agree with everything you have said here, and would like to add that I can hand shoot this lens at 110mm hand held down to 1/6 second without blurring !

110mm (297mm equivalent on FF) at 1/6 second , hand held.

This is my 2nd most used lens on the V1 (after the 10mm). That is a great price, I paid the full retail price of $250 but even at that price I feel it was worth it. This has the highest IQ of all the lenses so far (well, I haven't played with the 18.5mm yet) and it's incredibly small for the range it gives you.

You guys got me, ordered one in white

Sounds like a good deal, where I live that lens actually costs new about 283,67 USD at Amazon. That's more than double the price you got the refurbished for.

BTW, is the lens hood always part of that lens when bought alone or do you have to buy the hood separately?

It seems there are a lot of refurbished N1 System lenses today. Why so many? I don't remember a time when refurbished lenses was ever a topic. Maybe I just missed the posts.

Maybe some V1 two lens kits are being parted out so retailers can clean out their inventory of V1 10-30 kits. I noticed that there are few, if any, refurbished 10-30s being sold because they still need them to sell the V1's.

I sometimes wonder where all these refurbished lenses and cameras come from as well. Some are no doubt returns, and some may be former demos, but others may actually be new, that are sold as used or demos to justify a lower price. I have bought two "Nikon factory refurbished" lenses and a D3000, and under close inspection, they all looked like new and functioned as new. Others may have had a different experience buying refurbished, however.

What you say is reasonable.

I was able to grab one just before the price hike! Hope jonikon's theory proves to be true. ;)

Does Nikon typically reissue a serial number to refurbished products; something along the lines of a number beginning with an "R"?

I have never heard of this being done. It seems to me it would be somewhat expensive to do.

I was just curious as to how Nikon updates current owner information in the event a new, originally owned lens is replaced under warranty, and then resold.

Refurbished lenses don't have the 5 year warranty. Just 90 days.

mine arrived today (white) with hood. Seems to be an excellent lens and sharp in the few snaps I tried.

Oh BTW, Mine appears to be new with no cosmetic flaws. I can't believe how small it is.

:-D

I wonder that the hood is bundled... ? As far as I've seen here in Europe, the lens hood usually isn't bundled with that lens.

EDIT:

Ok never mind, saw that Nikon lists it to be included on their website, though on Amazon it's not listed to be part of the package!
