Sony NEX-7 Grip available

Do you know if this grip can fit with an other Nex . I have the 5n and maybe the nex 6 soon . If it fit can you post some photos of the combo on other Nex bodys ?

If Anybody knows Nex 7 and Nex 6 have the same shape and size? Does nex 7 grip fit nex 6?

I have one and love it. It's very helpful when I'm making constant adjustments to the settings using the soft keys due to changes in lighting, ect. When I have a situation that demands compactness over control, I just take the grip off. For my purposes it fits me very well, it's on my NEX about 75% of the time. The workmanship and attention to detail are top notch. When I had (an admittedly stupid) question, I recieved a very fast reply which is always a plus.

The NEX 6 and 7 Bodies are the same size , I ordered a fitted retro leather Case for the 7 and it fits my 6 like a glove as long as the tripod mount is the same and it appears to be .

The Case offered a renewed grip for me so I am not interested but do Appreciate one off

creations , Question what grade Anodizing did you 1 - 2 or 3 , The 3 Military grade will offer

a Glossy finish and is extremely Durable I make some one off stuff for Motorcycles and had some

options on Anodizing my Machinist buddy most Military contract Aerospace/Defense stuff put me on the 3 grade and it's fabulous .

I've had this grip for a few months, and pretty much keep it on the camera all the time. I find it very helpful for improving my hold on the camera, and the plate makes it easy to pop on and off a tripod. Without it, i find it trickier to hold the camera in a way that feels comfortable and stable. I find the added weight and bulk insignificant compared to the benefit of the added utility.

The comments about how it looks seem quite irrelevant to me. Even if it were "ugly" by some objective standard—and it's really just opinion, though—if it improves functionality, who cares?

In e-mail exchanges, Jim has said he's developing one for the 5.

I've been using Jim Buchanan's NEX-7 PalmGrip for a little over three months now. I have fairly large hands - when I buy gloves, I need a size XL. For me, it greatly improves my grip on the NEX-7.

The size and appearance do not bother me at all. I often have the SEL18200 on my NEX-7. The PalmGrip just makes it easier to hold, but does not dramatically increase the overall size.

I like the fact that it has an integrated Arca Swiss plate and that it does not interfere with the operation of the tiltable viewscreen. The RRS plate that I had been using on my NEX-7 limited the downward tilt of the viewscreen somewhat.

the photos currently on the website look like the grip's finish has been updated to look less purple and shiny, more matte and black - can anyone report that this is the case firsthand?












also see that there is an L-plate dovetail attachment now too.... this makes it a much more useful product IMO. for basically the same price as an rrs plate you get a more useful but not much larger interface.... i just really wish it had a portraiture-oriented shutter release... it'd be so much better then

It's been a while since I've posted in this thread. Thank you all, for your comments and feedback. Indeed, the reason I have been machining the PalmGrip for a vertical dovetail or L-plate attachment is from your suggestions. The L-plate is available now.

The grip has a bead blasted type finish and standard black anodizing to produce a more non-slip surface. The early photos showing a purple shading may have something to do with the sensor qualities. At any rate, the satin like finish seemed to have an effect on the color in photos.

I was hoping the NEX-6 was going to be the exact same shape as the NEX-7, but no such luck. There are 3 or 4 areas of the design that needs a tweak, so the NEX-6 will get it's own version. I hope to have a NEX-6 grip available by the end of December.

The NEX-7 doesn't need a grip. Why did you waste your time on a grip? Just want to make it bigger like an Oly OMD ???

Everyone's needs and preferences are different. Here's an idea: If you don't want a grip, don't buy one.

I read that you'll make a NEX-6 version soon.

Can I suggest you to make it compatible with security-pin of tripod heads?
