I am interested in the possible purchase of the 5000 and have visited Kodak site but alas they only have a modest few pics as samples. These seem excellent and whet my appetite but I simply cannot locate any other samples. Does anyone know of any site that has any pics on show. I've tried Photopoint but find none there indicated as Galleries from the 5000 - too new perhaps. Any others to be suggested ?? Thanks. I need of course full size shots to be of any use for evaluation.

Try the folks over at Imaging Resource - http://www.imaging-resource.com - where they have a full (huge) review of the camera. Just go to the reviews section and cameras over 1.9MegaPixels. You will find it in the list there.

Have fun. Hope the camera lives up to expectations if you do buy it.

Steve -

Thanks for getting back on this and sorry for the delay here due to natural time-lag - shut off for bye-byes just after posting !!

Yes. I did in fact get onto the Imaging-resource site as I've checked reviews on that many times. Surprised in fact that they had one and neither Phil's nor Steve's did. The imaging-resource is very thorough but I do dislike the standard shots they use. Good as a standard comparison of course but not much 'life' about them to see how a camera works in 'ordinary' day-to-day type. Still, I did get a couple to add to what is still a short list. One good thing came of the 'imaging' site - it seems to be a weathered version of the 280 - same 2.1Meg and most everything else - so I picked up some 280 shots as well. I've always had some respect for Kodak digis but most, other than the rugged 5000, seem a bit plasticky. However, with this dig into them I've found that the pic quality on most is really very good indeed. I wasn't at all impressed by the 4800 but the few others (cheaper and older as they are) are competitive with a good many others. All this is mostly with a view to getting my daughter fixed up and the 280 or 5000 still seem a good choice. The 5000 is still very scarce here in UK but I'm hanging on as they are coming around and my local dealer is a big Kodak fan so he stocks them regularly.
Thanks again for the response.

Eric,

If its not too late, I have a few at

http://www.pbase.com/galleries/longstaff

Unfortunately, they are resized & compresssed.

If you want a full size version of any, I can probably email you one or post it on the web somewhere.

For what its worth, I think its quite a good camera. Easy to use with large gloves on, reasonable lcd display, ok battery life. Photo quality is ok, though tends to be a little soft (Most of these pics were taken with soft setting, I haven't gotten around to post processing yet)
