Well I'm loving the G15 for all the reasons mentioned but I'm miffed that Adobe will not support the G15 Raw files in CS5. I simply can't afford, or need CS6 - or even Lightroom - but it seems that you are forced into upgrading.

Can anyone please point me towards other cost effective options because I have lost touch with all the other products (being that loyal to Adobe)!

Of course I know there is the Canon software but I am led to believe it is clunky to use. I also know that Adobe are under no obligation to support cameras but in this case I don't think they do themselves any favours.

Thanks

I have used Photoshop for many years but many of my friend love Elements. It does RAW just fine.

Canon DPP is free and came with your camera. At least try it. It's not a bad RAW processor at all.

Use DPP for now.

When Adobe DNG Converter (free download) is updated to support the G15, then you can simply import and convert your CR2 files to DNG and use CS5. That's my plan, anyway!

The latest version of Elements (11) which I have does not support Canon's latest ACR beta release (7.3?) which includes support for the G15. I'm hoping when the ACR release becomes final, it will be supported by Elements.

I'm a big user of DXO Optics Pro and their next release next month is slated to support the G15 but only the latest version 8, not earlier versions. I guess that's the price you pay when you buy a new camera.

I use DPP to do basic G15 raw editing, mainly correct the white balance and then tweak the image in Elements. It's a bit cumbersome but it works.

I use ACDSee Pro 6.0. They updated their raw support yesterday. Unfortunately, support for the G15 was not included. I immediately wrote to their customer support to ask why, and when can I expect G15 support. I know that it will be forthcoming as ACDSee has a history of support all Canon EOS and Powershot cameras. Just have to wait for now.

As mentioned DPP will work at now charge for now. Just convert and edit in your Adobe program. This is always the challenge once faces when acquiring lastest technology cameras.

just got to want a few more weeks. Each software company is different.

There are many to choose from.

Yes, but it's $170.00 vs DPP at no cost! :)

Yes, the betas have never worked in any version of PSE, but there's always been a release version for PSE, eventually. Usually takes a few weeks after the PS release, though.

Here is the latest from ACDSee on RAW coverage for the Canon PS G15.

Dear Larry,
Thank you for contacting ACD Systems Customer Support.
Although the Canon PS G15 is not currently included within the camera models supported by ACDSee Pro 6, we hope to update the RAW decoder to include this camera in the future. At present there is not a timeline for its inclusion, but as a result of customer inquiries, we are working to include this camera model.
Please note that even if a particular make and model of camera is on the list:
http://www.acdsee.com/en/support/raw-formats
We cannot guarantee the release of the raw support for that make and model of camera, as sometimes technical or other unforeseen issues may arise that will result in the delay or omittance of said support.
Thank you for your patience and understanding in this regard.

Actually what it says is that support will arrive in Dec, which could be in 2 days or 33 days.

I use PSE11 and I believe it will soon support G15 RAW, too. But I'm so pleased with the jpegs from my G15 that I'm in no rush to shoot RAW.
