which one gives the best IQ? is the 35mm significantly better thanthe 23mm?

I agonised over this decision,i had the silver X100 when i first came out but sold it, recently decided i wanted back into what Fuji are doing, the black ltd X100 or the X-E1 with 35mm f1.4 .

Both give stunning IQ,nothing much in it between the 2,but i decided on the X-E1 + 35mm as i do more people photography,so the tighter FOV is slightly better for me,+ the extra stop gives stunning bokeh, but saying that i do miss a wider FOV,so at the moment deciding on picking up the 18mm lens or maybe another refurbed X100 for not much more money.

I would say bith are very good. Now just decide which one fit your shooting style more and you're set.

If I were to choose them today, I would go for XE1.

I already have the XPro1 and X100.

X-E1 for sure. The EVF is beautiful and the image quality is devastatingly good (updated 16mp sensor) with the all of their lenses. I have the 18-55, 35, 60, and they are all great plus you have the option of changing your FL depending on your requirement. Their 27mm pancake is due out in the Spring, which will make it a nice small package with a FL similar to the X100 if that's what you want.

X-E1 gives better IQ but the X100 doesn't disappoint. I will be keeping my X100 because the 23mm focal length is the best for my kind of street photography (35mm is too tight imo, a sharp standard f/1.4 lens is a nice thing to have though) stealthier with a silent leaf shutter and 'smaller.'
