I've had my E-p3 for a little over 2 months now, and am still impressed at the jpegs it's putting out. This 12mp sensor rocks!

That was the best looking Alfa ever made. Maybe the best looking small sedan ever made!

Very nice. Colors look vivid. Is that what you had it set as, vivid that is?

maligned and unfairly so. If you know how to control contrast in a photo, it really is about as good as the 16mp sensor up to about ISO 800., maybe 1000.

Considering that most of us shoot between ISO 200 and 800 for most shots, it works just fine. Lots of people are taking lots of great photo's with 12mp PENs and the great Oly JPEG engine. I hope Oly keeps making an entry level u 4/3 camera with this sensor and sells it for less than $300.00. Look at how well the E-pl1 sells today, and it takes gorgeous JPEGS. On Amazon it still sells more than all the other u 4/3 cameras combined, excluding the GF-3!

There is still more life to squeeze out of the 12mp sensor if it is sold at the right price point.

A lot of people think that moving to a better sensor is really going to impove thier photography. Most of them are kidding themselves. The 12mp sensor is better than anything we had in the film days and most people today can not take better photo's than the pro's used to with film.

Did you use the 45mm f/1.8 lens on these shots. I like the portrait of the girl. Nice soft focusing and excellent detail in the hair.

The girl (my daughter at 17?) was shot with a Minolta Rokkor M 40mm f/2.0 on the "e-Portrait) setting. The other two B&W shots were with the Oly M. Zuiko 40-150mm zoom.

The zoom is acually pretty good except all the way out at 150. The Rokkor is excellent even wide open. Here it is on the E-pl1:

I'm loving my ep3 as well. Not since I first owned the Canon g3 back in the day have I felt so comfortable with a digital camera. Love the size and ergonomics. Image quality is great. Love all the configuration options. When I put the vf2 on and go downtown to shoot people photos I smile every time. I loved the eye level viewfinders on my DSLR's but the ability to add and remove it is quite a trick. It's like 2 cameras in one. In some circumstances I love the touch capture of the LCD screen and in some I really like the VF2. Glad to hear that someone else is still using this old camera. :) Seems like the OMD is the only thing there is on this forum lately...

at the number of people on this forum shooting with PENs, even E-p1's. People are reluctant to get rid of them and upgrade.

You talk about the 12mp PEN Sensor.

Well you are right about the EPL-1 Sensor but not the EPL-3 or EP-3.

I had the EPL-1 and it had much better IQ than the EPL-3 I own now.

Its not the same Sensor.
