Nikon's lousy customer service

I had a charger go bad for my D7000. I called Nikon and spoke to a nice lady named Rachel who told me that it was under warranty and I could order another one and submit the invoice for reimbursement. Nikon sent me another charger instead minus the stubby plug. They ignored the invoice and sent it back - no explanation. I sent a subsequent email and they sent a form email saying I had to go online and jump through their hoops. If this is the standard for customer service at Nikon I'll be looking at another maker; even after 25 years worth of several bodies & lenses at considerable expense. In contrast I had a problem with a Canon ink cartridge and they sent me another one - no question. Guess which maker's. customer service I'd rather deal with?

Signed,

You had a charger go bad....they sent you another charger. You sent the invoice, they sent it back with out explanation (their bad)...you asked why and they said send the invoice in a specific way....You got upset. Is that correct

One of the reasons I decided to go Canon was Nikon's insistence that to download a full, printable copy of a camera manual, one had to enter a serial number. That's hogwash. I was able to download Canon manuals with no problems, and evaluate the functionality.

And so, Nikon, you lost about $60,000 in sales from me.

I'm surprised to see that Nikon are requesting a serial number, I've downloaded manuals for D100, D3 and D7000 without any such requirement (from Nikon USA site.) I saved them as PDF files then used Acrobat Reader.

In any case, it seems an unusual way to determine which Camera to choose...
