It was overcast day today, just bought Nex-6 and tried it with 55-210 with moving objects. Think that it was quite ok. Iso 1600, 129mm, f5,6, 1/160.

It is not photo that i'am happy with, but amazing nex 6 continues tracking capability.

Any meaningful demonstration of the NEX 6's continuous AF tracking ability would have to include a series of shots taken at a high speed burst and not just one random shot.

Throw that baby in AF-C and switch modes to Continuous shooting and do the same thing. Any old Nex will snap that pic at that shutter speed.

Also shoot in Jpeg on medium quality and try to turn off some of the in camera corrections. This will allow full 10 FPS burst and see how fast it can track.

I just don't understand what do you mean?

He's saying that he's not trying to impress anybody with the photo, but he's just happy with the fact that AF tracking works. He owns the camera, he tested the tracking and he says it works. And I believe him. Ignore the photo for a second. Does he have to provide pro-level photos in order to make a point? Come on people...

Actually, I believe 10fps is only in speed priority mode, which locks focus from the first shot.

Actually I've read otherwise. I've read that it's 10fps with focus tracking. I specifically noted it as being very different from PEN E-PL5 which locks focus for 8fps.

Also, I am very happy to see that photo. As far as I can see the car is well in focus...what's wrong with that image? It's clean, the subject in in focus...I keep hearing talk about how NEX-6 would not be fast enough for sports or this and that...some people even say kids.

If you can take a perfectly decent picture of a moving car then I don't see how I would have an issue with most anything else.

the good old Nex-5 would have snapped that same image:

Really? To me none of the three cars seem to be in focus

Some images more. Nex-6 continues focus works and quite well in consideration that it was dark and shutter speed was only 1/160.

Well, with f6.3 a whole lot is in focus...I have an EPL5 and did 3 fps (it does focus each shot then and not at 8 fps) with a 1.8 45 mm lens. Than you can see that the fore- and background are out of focus and the car (I did it with a 55 km /h car) is in focus. I think you should try this with f3.5 or another, faster lens so we can see it singles out the object and keeps track of it. At least, in my view you should do it that way..

If Sony only had a lens that fast...

That works for me!

I see more evidence that PDAF is working on this camera. As the technology not new (Nikon 1) it should not be that difficult. A camera that tracks focus, how 1990's! :-D

Thank You!
