Some of the stills from a recent Rush concert we all went to. My little HX9V is still my go anywhere camera that every time I think of upgrading I look at the results and wonder why?

Also shot 7 videos that turned out rather well in my opinion. They are up on utube under my user name of luckymandran and will try to post links here but I had difficulty doing that last time i tried for some reason.

Okay, I'm not sure of how to put up links to the videos as nothing seems to work for me. I'm sure it is just lack of knowledge on my part so if anyone knows how to do this please let me know and I can get them up here for you. Thanks!!

Excellent !!!

The trio are among the world's finest musicians but Peart undoubtedly stands alone as the planet's greatest drummer... and the drum kit is rightly so the oversized centerpiece on stage. Oh and very nice photos btw :-)

Thank you.

Thank you! And I tend to agree with you as far as Neal and the band. He had what I guess you would call 3 drum solos! But he doesn't just do your typical beat the heck out of the drums as fast and hard as you can thing. Each one was more of a musical piece that featured him on drums and each with a distinct "flavor" to it. I did capture the last one on video that really stood out to me and I love how this camera does a good job with both stills and video!

I have an HX9V and upgraded to a RX100 so that I can learn what the fuss over RAW and big sensors is. The automatic .jpgs from the two cameras in typical viewing situations seem about the same to my eye.

To post a link: Go to your YouTube video and play it. As it plays, a web address will show up in the top line of your browser. Highlight it, press ctrl C, move to here or any other place, look for the chain link in the tool bar, press it and paste with a ctrl V, press the insert button.

It will look like this. Click on it.

While Neil Peart is a great drummer it is a mistake to call him, or any drummer for that matter, the "planet's greatest". That goes for any musician. There is no "best" or "greatest" since such a thing is impossible to determine. Oh, and Geddy Lee is a great bass player. Alex Lifeson is an excellent guitarist but I put him a step below Lee and Peart as musicians.

I like your last remark! "Most drummers are drummers, Peart is a percussionist." Nicely said!

Yeah, I hear ya, I should've added "in my opinion". I've heard some great percussion over the years, notably jazz, and while I certainly thought those other fellas had great skill, to me Peart always stood above them, especially as luckymandran mentioned, he's not about beating the hell out of the kit even though it's usually typical of hard rock drummers to do so. Most drummers are drummers, Peart is a percussionist, and a master at that ;)
Now that I can agree with. Peart is my favorite Rock drummer/percussionist but I tend to lean toward the more subtle skills of the old Jazz Be Bop drummers like Max Roach. Peart is a Jazz influenced drummer in the tradition of the great Buddy Rich and has admitted he was heavily influenced by Rich and it shows.

Listen to the following;

Now listen to Rich himself;

And for something completely different, Max Roach;
