I'm so close to buying this camera to use at concerts when DSLRs aren't allowed. I have two concerts coming up, and I want to sell my Sigma 10-20mm to buy this camera. I'd still have to pay like 250 though. The cheapest I've has been Best Buy 540 for an open box RX100. Is there any other store that has it cheap?

The dealers are all selling the camera for $650 plus or minus a few dollars. Sony and other manufacturers don't want dealers selling below retail. And on a camera like the RX100 they don't need to.

There is a private individual on eBay selling one for $620 unopened.

Adorama, one of the big retailers is offering the RX100 for regular price. Their deal includes a 32GB (unknown brand) card and a case.

Thank you very much for the replies. I'm leaning towards the Best Buy open box camera for 540.

If you really want it and can get it at Best Buy for $540, I would bite their hand off.

I got mine while travelling in Thailand for about $640 and that was the only one I saw for the whole day while I was in buying mode. Sure I'd have loved to have bought it for $540, but then I'd have hated to do my Cambodia trip without it much much more, so for me $640 was a good price.

But I'm not fully convinced by your motivation. A 10-20 for a concert suggests very privileged access, and if that's the case, why do you need a stealth camera like the RX100? It certainly wont replace 10-20mm, even if attached to an APS-C sensor.

Bought mine at 42nd Street Photo for $600, I think my 3rd camera with them in the past 2 years. Once ordering online, they do follow up with you by phone and try to "up sell" you, asking if you need memory cards, case, etc....it is part of the process and why they are able to see at a cheaper price. No real hard sell (well, maybe there are company reps who act that way). Overall, I've always thought it a great site for buying cameras.

An aside, with X-MAS coming up I've no doubt the price will drop to $550-$575. Anyone in the States currently paying $650 is paying too much for the camera.

Just remember that Best Buy has a 15% restocking fee. Or did the last time I looked.

Best Buy no longer has a restocking fee. I just returned a laptop yesterday. They changed their policy months ago.

For concerts when I am able to use my Canon T2i, I use the Sigma 30mm f/1.4. I bought the Sigma 10-20mm because I think super wide pictures look cool, and wanted to try the lens. It was more of an impulse buy, and I've been liking it. I think I would use the RX100 more though. I have two concerts that are coming up at big venues, so DSLRs aren't allowed. That's the reason I want the RX100. I want to use it for concerts when only point and shoots are allowed.
