Fuji 602 case

Hi,

I have recently bought a 602z camera and thought I would treat myself to the proper Fuji carry case. This is a simple question, but has anyone had a trouble with the case? I don't know if I'm using it correctly but when the camera is in the case and held by the straps it doesn't hang down with the lens hanging downwards as one would expect it to, it hangs flat (horizontally) and is consequently akward to carry. There were no instructions how to fit the case, in truth there doesn't seem any other way to fit it than what I have done. Am I not seeing something simple here?

Mike,

Though I do not own the Fuji brand case, I know what you mean about it being awkward because it balances horizontally. My solution to this has always been to flip the camera over and then put it over your shoulder. The top of the camera should rest against your body, forcing the camera to ride lens-down.

You're generally going to have the camera out of the case most of the time anyway, so why not go for a better cases? The Fuji case, like most fitted cases, is not the best, either for ease of use or handling. There's lots of opinions on cases but to me, the most flexible is something along the lines of a Lowepro D-Res 50 or a Domke. You can leave the camera in the case, ready to go, then pull it out when you need it, no messing about with removing a fitted cover. Plus the Lowepro or Domke cases provided plenty of storage for other essentials you may need to carry with you.

I recently got the Fuji case and while I like the fact that it fits the camera really well and has space for 8 batteries, my case also does not hand down properly. I'm keeping my case because I think other cases would be larger and more cumbersome.

I went for buying a second case designed for a slim line digial video camera, It allows me to store my 602 and tele lens while attached . has plenty of storage is well padded and best of all was only $ 10 new. { from crazy clarks here in oz } If I dont need the tele I use the other bag which doubles as a accs. storage. place.

?? Those first 2 pix were damn good, but we're waiting for the giant fish ones

Oh yeah, I have an INCA bag, measures 81/2" x 61/2" x 7". It fits the Camera w/adapter, Vivitar 285HV, 5 sets extra batteries, USB and Flash extension cables, UV and Circ filters, mini-CD w/drivers + all related software, lens and camera cleaners, lotsa memory, gallery "business cards"

and ummm condoms. No wait, they're not mine. Also carry 2 good screwdrivers, for those times when you just "have" to dis-mantle the camera during a shoot

Maaaaaaaate what plastic cover ? I"m still waiting for my Sunpak 383
to turn up. Dam thing should have been here yesterday. Hoping to see it

It seems that the Fuji case aint that much good! Poor design really considering the price they charge!

I'm using the Lowepro Toploader Mini zoom case. it holds my 602, with the Kenko tube and filter in place. The front pocket has room for a couple spare sets of batteries and my polarizer. I could probably get my cell phone in with the camera, but I haven't tried. It's not huge, just big enough.

I've used that trick of flipping the camera around backwards a lot. I have a Nikon with a 135mm tele lens that I've used for shooting pictures of my kids marching band. I'm also part of the pit crew, moving equipment on and off the field at competitions. That lens nearly got whacked against a marimba a couple times until I figured out that trick. Backwards, the lens hangs flat against my body, relatively safe.
