Of course I am a jerk and I love being a jerk! (Note to readers, please bookmark this page!) I am not trying to justify anything. Jerks (clever ones anyway) are important. They are the sparkplugs for discussion. Since the anonymus up/down voting system came about, this forum is so boring I could fall asleep reading it-in fact I have! It is unfortunate that there are so many thin skiinned "arteeests" on this forum that they can't handle a little criticizm without hitting the "complain" button. Instead now we have heavy self censorship in the form of "votes" with no comments and everyone is falling asleep.
well feck my old brown boots, i actually agree with

I WIN BY SHOUTING LOUDEST
Jerks being "a dime a dozen", what does arguing for their seminality say about any such protagonist ?

Idiot-button pushing being a mere cretin's paradise, what fool's self-esteem would turn on such wankerous trifles?

One could find more luminous minds falling off bar-stools around closing time in some ethanol-drenched dive ... :P

diod I put my dictionary. I know I put it here somewhere! How do you spelll "semialty"?Tedolph

Deign (verb) - Do something that one considers to be beneath one's dignity.

This, of course, is no disincentive for the "usual saints" to dribble forth their sublime exudates:

:P
Is that like an "extrusion"? Tedolph

It's like a badly written Stephen Cobert wrestles George Carlin on WWF.

Have found the ideal captive audience for unfulfilled orators and snarky egomaniacs by Googling "muttonbone sheep specs". The ultimate "client" - one that just wants to "pay and pay" ... :P

BTW, none of the really good photograhers here seem to have trouble with critical posts (except maybe you Bob). Tedolph
And we love you for it.

I would be proud to be associated with either Colbert or Carlin.
You apparently missed the "badly written" part. Eh, what's a detail like that anyway?

P.S. Your weekly post count has declined dramatically. Apparently all the down-voting has had a quieting effect on you.

When the discuss is subtracted from discussion it's sorta boring. Votes aren't as good as words. Words aren't as good as pictures. What that all means I'm not sure.

Haven't figured out the DETAILS about how to embed images yet, eh?
I am not stupid enough to imagine that having Swift's Premium Meat Power in my pants surely means that I can get away with willy-nilly copyright infringement using DPReview's site-facilities, "Einstein" ...

Second: the "thumb up/down" buttons are a a nice way to express agreement/disagreement without answering to a post. So instead of writing an answer, you just hit a bottom, which results in less posts.
I think you've nailed it here. The voting option has somewhat starved the room of oxygen for the chronic trollers, spammers, and attention-seekers, and has demonstrably brought the most egregious posters more in line.
My guess: "readership" is as least at the same levels as before, but post counts are down. That is not necessarily a bad thing...

So, you got what you wanted. Do you like it better now that there are no, "disagrements"? Your forum is dying. TEdolph
Yes, its is much better. The trolls are starving and that's a good thing. If the forum is actually "dying," DPreview will change things: page clicks are king after all.

And there are plenty of disagreements still, it's just that the rudeness has been toned down a bit. Again: a good thing.

You keep saying "readership" is down without any evidence to back it up. It could very well be the case that the opposite is true.

I don't know about viewers, but my patience with this site sure has.

For example, I have choosen Yellow for the color of the forums, yet today, I see the forums sprinkled with yellow AND blue. WTF?
