As our tour group was negotiating the streets and highways of the Washington DC area on our way to Arlington Cemetary, our bus driver took a wrong turn and headed us toward the Pentagon.

Trucks and motor coaches are NOT allowed on that highway (for security reasons).

This State Police officer was "very helpful", and told our driver just where to go . . .

So now we know what Garth Brooks has been up to since he retired from singing....

...looks like he lost a little weight.

What great body language you captured with this... Last time I was in DC my cab driver went the wrong way on a one way street. I got to see a few great expressions that day (many reflected back to me in the rear view mirror).

Oh, and btw, I love the Lincoln Memorial in black and white in the Exhibition Gallery! terrific lighting!

This one would be very good for a "Caption competition"

Yes, some folks in my group objected to me referring to getting a "shot" of the President't helecopter, especially since there were Secret Service agents and Blackhawk helicopters sweeping the area! I actually did get a sequence that I'll try to post later -- a shot of an agent on a rooftop, a Blackhawk checking out the approach near the Washington Monument, and then Marine One coming in for a dropoff on the South Lawn of the White House . . .

Thanx for the look . . .

I guess I am now!

This was actually my first time ever to take this type of guided tour, and I wouldn't have done it if not for the fact that is was an 8th grade class trip.

But I kind of liked it! It was pretty handy to get dropped off at a monument or building, poke around for a few hours, and then walk out and climb back on the comfortable air conditioned bus (our guide kept calling it a "motor coach") for a relaxing ride to our next destination!

No, I'm not in the 8th grade anymore! ;-) I still like to act like it sometimes . . . but most of the time on this trip I was the "authority" figure, smacking the little twerps back into line!

Not sure which would be the best, a bus load of 8th graders or 65+, but I do like the idea of having a "motor coach" waiting for you. great shot !!!!

Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect. It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections

. . . because he let us proceed after he boarded the "motor coach" and looked us over a little!

. . . that I'd likely be happy with either group! Just not both at the same time! ;-)
