Have to say, I drove the kids nuts taking a walk yesterday. Stop..sit, let me try some portrait photos with my 55-200 kit lens..lol they will never want to go on a walk with me again. LOL

Very nice images, love the compositions. You have a very good eye, and it shows in your images. The jpeg engine in the modern Sony SLT's is way too often criticized.

Under good lighting conditions, jpegs can be very good in my opinion, and PP can still be applied when necessary. And as an added bonus, smaller files are created compared to raw images, and all camera functions can be utilized in the jpeg mode.

... go walk with you more often. They will love you for doing this when they grow up and see the shots from their younger ages.

Actually, they look really comfortable rather than the opposite in these lovely shots.

Really nice work!

You have some really great looking kids!

The photos ain't bad either! ;-)

Joking aside, looks to me like you should do this more often as the kids are natural models and I really like your images.

You are a great photographer and make me really look forward even more to arrival of my A57. Keep enjoy the camera :)

Thanks everyone trying to get better. Since Inever paid attention before with my bridge camera. Just shot, after being on here for a couple of weeks Iam trying to better compose the shots. Takphoto photo thru the view finder andhooping I can get a great shot without any pp

Thanks bunches and many blessings to you all

Great job with subject matter that's important. Some of these will be treasures in the future. Way to go!

I'm enjoying hearing how much fun you're having.

Agreed. With a little bit of contrast in PP you could get these looking even better. The colors are great and the composition on each is pretty nice as well.
That's a really good and simple suggestion that NP might want to try. I shoot JPEG only and find that most of my shots with zoom lenses need a click of "auto contrast", very simple in Picasa.

Someone then feel free to add pp to it...so I can see what pp would do??????

thanks friends.

I don't think I did this right??? Their eyes don't show up now. I added a noise reduction too on my iPad. A little mini photo shop with a few things I can do.

I thought the first photo looked a little dark so I brightened the shadows a bit. Also boosted saturation just a bit but it really didn't add anything to you photo.

Brightened shadows, boosted saturation just a bit.

That's a heavy-handed application of contrast - use a light touch Nano.

I don't think noise reduction is needed in this photo. Too much will smooth skin into nothingness.

Honestly, I thought the first was a bit dark (and easy to correct) but all the rest were great as they are.

Nice pics!

Just a quick question though. What focus mode are you using? Spot .....Wide? .....Local......?

Have you heard of using spot focus then using the focus recompose method?

Just curious?

I think your pictures are great but could be better if some people here help you. Me not included.

I have had a couple glasses of wine and exif is not included so not sure what aperature you shot these at. Hence my question on how you focused?

I have heard of that. Read it on that ebook I bought. But haven't figured it out yet or practiced doing that. I had my camera set on local

Thanks

Try it.

Set it for spot focus....

point center focus at what you want to focus on ........ half shutter press ......recompose shot for what you want it to look like with shutter half pressed to hold focus full press to take picture.

It will do wonders on your focus on stills where your children our posing. Focus on eyes ...hold shutter button half push....recompose to your liking then full shutter press..... try F4 to F8 and your kids faces will be razor sharp....... I like your pics but feel you could focus better. ....... If they are walking or running that is a different story. Try this method with poses or still pics first.

I think you will like the results.

I just switched from the a300(which I always used this method successfully) to the 65 where I am returning to this method because it works for stills. It is a great way to start with a new camera and works for great focus everytime as long as your subject is still.

I am glad you are loving you A57....

Kids are a gift ....enjoy
