Hi Guys,

I got my GretagMacbeth EyeOne Photo last night, and you can download a few profiles from my website for the P2100 (so far)

download here:
http://www.klarisma.com/photo/

The Profiles so far are for the following Epson paper:
EPSON Stylus Photo 2100 Premium Photo Glossy Paper
EPSON Stylus Photo 2100 Matte Heavy Weight

Both are made with Photo Black T0341 cartridge. (Matte cart. profiles later..)

Please give me some feedback.. ;-) I got the 2100, 1290 and a HP multifunction inkjet (155dx) for which i'll make some profiles.

Thank you for your feedback Phil - but your attitude is not really needed.

I do some work here for free - and if you dont want to try them - then it is fine for me - I don't expect anything.

But if someone was to comment on the profiles - I'll try to correct them - and give them away for free in a better version - and the only cost was a $1 or so for a print you might would have done anyway - and I promise you - the ICC profile is not bad in the current version - and is a lot betten than a printer only with a standard Epson ICC profile.

I admit theese profiles are not yet comparable to Cathy's yet - but I do think that the next profile will have Delta error values comparable to Cathy's.

Watch the website for "large" format ICC profiles. ;-)

Why do I give them away? Well - for the printers and paper I have and use - I'll publish the profiles I use for free, since I've done them anyway. I won't do profiles for other printers than the ones I own for free (at the moment...) ;-)

btw. I'm in no way trying to say that my profiles can compete with one made especially for "for you and your printer" - like Cathy does....

A profile is dependent on the "printer" condition - and that changes over time. So to have REALLY perfect color you need a profile done from time to time as the printer is "used" since wear and tear + small inperfection differences in manufacturing - makes each printer a tiny bit "unique"

But my profiles - will at least get you going ;-)

Hi Kasper,

I have an Epson 2100 and I've been looking for some icc profiles
for it. I'll try to print from these two profiles and let you know how
it comes out. Thanks again for sharing.

...to Mr. Larsen.

My comment did indeed come off sounding much too harsh. I simply intended to question why someone felt the need to distribute profiles (even free ones) before taking some time to "test" on his own. Perhaps he has had a chance to do so, it just sounded premature-considering his comment about just getting the Gretag/Macbeth profiling package the previous evening.

Kasper, Thanks for the profiles. Have just tried the photo glossy paper. Win xp and printed with qimage. Very nice, accurate the big thing is blues where all blues, no purple casts. If I had to nit pick it would be some of the yellows could be slightly more saturated but then again my monitor profile may not be perfect.

Sorry can't try the matte heavy weight, I only use the semi gloss photo paper. But who knows the heavy weight profile might just be great with the semi gloss.
Cheers, Don

Hi Phil apology accepted ;-) no harm done ;-)

watch out - later today there should be some even better profiles out. I got the "hang" of the software now - and follow a slightly different path now than what Cathy does. It requires a few more prints - but that should take care of both getting EyeOne messurement differences and printer differences "out of the way"

Basically I do 2 complete runs - with 3-5 meassurements pr. print sample - and then they each run is compared - and that continues until Delta error is low enough. That should average out both the EyeOne and printer differences. All prints are done at 20 deg. Celcius and "office" humidity.

But it will be a few hours before I can do the messurements due to strong sunlight. ;-) (which makes me wanna go outside anyway to do some pictures.. G )

Hi Gordon,

I'm trying to get hold of that paper, but it is not "stock" paper at the normal computer stores around here. So I got it on special order...

I don't know when I'll get it. But I got some ilford paper i'll do profiles on later. ;-)

Hi Don,

thanks! Later today there will be new Semi Gloss profiles out following my optimized procedure (look at my reply #3 to Phil for a short version of how they are done.)

I have not seen a yellow cast on my sample prints - but I'll trust your judgement ;-) (the samples i've done has mostly been skin tones - since the stock profile is not very good for skintones.)

but again - watch this space ! New profiles are comming..

Is anyone using the Photo Gloss Roll paper (it is a bit different from the Semigloss Photo Paper..)??

Hi Kasper, I don't think I said a yellow cast just that a few of the yellows in the test patch I printed could have been slightly more saturated (brighter?)

Anyway this was minimal. I could not see any colour cast at all. A very very good profile. I'm looking forward to trying the even better ones.

G okay - but the new profiles will be there later on. I do think they will work on the 2200 as well, since the print engine is the same. There is a driver difference though.. ;-( But maybe someone wants to test that ;-)

But right now i'm down to 0,14 in Delta Error average between my messurements - and when they are averaged out... then the profile will not get much better. (in my humble oppinion...)

The new profiles will be online in 5-8 hours. (when ink is dry and messured...)

Mr. Larsen,

First I'd like to commend you for your generousity! Thanks, so much!

Regarding the settings you specify for the profiles, I have a comment. When I print photos, generally, I like to use the highest settings (i.e. 2880 and finest detail). Do you plan to distribute profiles at this level? Regardless, again, I thank you!

I am shocked Kasper. Last week I received 4 custom profiles made for my 2100 and they were too saturated, too yellow, too red. But your profile is dead on! Superb skintones, matches my screen perfectly! I am not trying to do bad on my profile-maker, in fact we are trying to solve this problem with my custom ones but your profile is certainly much better.

An interesting note:

I also made a profile for this paper with Profile Prism (latest version using IT8) and I must say that it is very close to yours (good work Mike) however in the shadows your profile is definitely better.

Hi Danny,

thank you very much! I'm am a bit of a perfectionist - but this warms a lot ;-) (even though i'll blush a bit now...)

Tomorrow the 2880 Semigloss profile will be done (as well as a test profile for Konica Semi Gloss Paper) I don't know yet how that will come out - I only got a paper sample ;-) But the paper is available in bulk packs - at quite resonable colors.
