to compare, here is a sample of how my photos come out of the
camera, with saturation +2.

I use white balance thungstene and saturation -2 and then get this
instead:

Do you have the Hoya R72? what filter do you use?
Those 2 photos are straight out of the camera. Infrared photos
need editing. You can do all sort of editing as simple as
auto-level and convert to grayscale or to be more complex.
Here is my workflow:
take correct exposure between 1/6s to 1/45s depending on light and
subject. Use white balance thungstene and saturation -2.
1. Open it in Photohop and do auto-level.
2. Swap the red and blue channel to get back the blue sky.
3. If needed do auto-color.
4. then create a new layer with blending mode "color" to color
correct or tint what is needed.
You can also convert it to grayscale if you prefer black and white.
Here is a very weird photo I took near the Golden Gate bridge. Not
sure I like it but I did not saw the extend of the invasion until I
opened the file in Photoshop...those trees are invaded by rampant
vegetation all over!
