I do not know if copy right is an issue here but if at all possible, I would very much like to print this image out to a large size to hang in my office.

If this is possible, would you send me a large file of the image for printing? (just one off for my personal viewing). But if copy right is an issue, I would understand. Great work!

I'd be honored, Gordon. I'll email you with the file attached, but I'm first going to print it myself this morning, to look for any little flaws that I didn't catch before I send it to you (I had to get rid of some lens flare, so did some masking with a section taken from another shot of the same scene)

David,

As I said over at the minolta photo share forum on net54, this is an awesome picture. Definitely a wall hanger.

Keep 'em coming :-)

Thanks, Jason. I just printed it up on the 2200 at 13 x 17, and it really looks nice. Just picking out a frame for it. I might send one or 2 from this series out for a Lightjet print at 20 x 30" and see if it sells.

I don't think you'll have any problems with sales... :-)

Are you still not comfortable with the longevity of the 2200 for the prints you sell? I know you're concientious of the customer's need for a print that will last, so was curious if you find the expected longevity to good enough to meet your expectations.

wow, really nice! Maybe you could add a little sharpening to bring out the texture in the rock?

Thanks Daniella. The original is very sharp. I haven't figured if there's any way of posting anything on Fototime without them super-compressing it, but I haven't found a way around it yet. When my payed year with them is up, I may move to different service. Every grain of sand and ripple in the rock is visible in the print. You can see how badly the text watermark is blurred as well :-(

Thanks, Jose. This place is pretty far from Phoenix (I'd die in the heat down there), closer to Las Vegas, I guess. I need 4 real seasons per year!

I'm printing most of the landscapes on the Radiant White Watercolor paper, which is rated to 80-100 years, under glass. The prints are fairly fragile to scratching, so wouldn't use them for pass-around shots, mostly for framed shots. For the portfolio, I'm using some Epson Luster paper and Enhanced Matte as well (also some Red River and Ilford papers), which aren't quite as archival, but probably as good as wet lab prints. There have been some comments by one print tester of possible flaking of the pigment over time on some papers, and it makes me wonder if I should go back to spray-coating the prints, but since it was so much of a hassle, I'm waiting until I see any of it for myself, or hear that it's a real problem with any of these papers. If the economy picks up, or I have a decent showing at the couple of art shows I'm doing this summer, I may get the Epson 7600 next winter.

I'm toying with a trip down to the Kanab/Page area sometime in May. What cost are they currently charging for trespass fee and guide into Antelope Canyon? Do you need to make arragements before you go?

Just a UV filter. I'll have to go back to EXIF to recall the settings, but I think it was probably at ISO 200, with my 15-30mm Sigma lens, probably around f11 or 16, and around 3-4 sec exposure.

I just showed up at the dirt parking lot on the Navajo reservation, about 3 miles East of Page. They had a sun shelter and picnic table set up to register you. They will take you to the entrance in the back of a pickup truck, about once per hour. Price is $15 for a 1-hour 'tour', and $20 to stay an additional hour, which may be worth it, so you can hang around between tour groups arriving and have the place mostly to yourself, or a couple of other photographers, and not be hassled by the stream of people walking through your shots, people throwing sand in the air (to emphasize the sun shafts), etc. There are also a couple of companies out of Page that run tours there.
