The last couple of months my 950 has developed a slight problem when I switch to play it goes dead. Sometimes you get nothing at all.Other times it shows one or two pics then dies. Well tomorrow morning I send it off to New York to be repaired, camera is 9 months old. Has anyone had this problem and if so was Nikon able to fix it to your satisfaction. Also how long did it take to fix. (Down and out in VA. with fall colors approaching) Thanks Terry F.

Problem is very common. I had mine repaired took about 4 days total.

I had a similar problem with my 990 2 weeks ago. Sent it to Nikon and it was back in my hands 8 days later, and you can track progress of repair along the way. theres a Nikon service tread back about a week that goes through the saga, but I',m pleased with the service.

Well we just got back from a 3 week trip and I am now at 2483 pictures on my nikon 950. Got in Feb. Anyway half the time it wouldn't turn on when I went to take a picture. And would also go dead in Play mode. I would open the battery compartment and close again and could get to work. (saw that as a tip when I first got my camera). Once or twice would have been ok, but it got to be almost everytime. I keep my batteries well charged so it isn't that. I guess besides just stating that yes I have a similar problem, I am asking what if when they get the camera it doesn't do it? Are they going to just take my word for it? I was kind of waiting for something to just completely go but with the holidays coming, I don't want to be without the camera. And then I get to wondering, so they fix it does that mean that the same thing is going to happen in 7 months again? Not very reliable for $900 camera.

I agree 100 percent with you Gail. It is alot of money to spend for a possible recurring problem. I got my camera the same time you did, the warranty will soon run out I would shutter the thought of what this would cost. I have owned quite a few Nikon SLR's and that primarily is why I went with the 950. And I like you thoght I should get this fixed. It sounds like you need to send yours in. My camera was doing the same thing and instead of being fun taking pics it was a pain. Good Luck. Terry F.

I have taken 3800 pictures with my 950, not a single problem with the switch. You should expect that the warrenty work they will do on your switch will have a warrenty itself. I would send it in soon. If anything, call Nikon and ask about the situation.
