Perfect example of Photographer

Love it!
Anyhow You do not need L glass or a DSLR to take great pictures.
Impressive work. It all depends on the person behind the viewfinder
not investments of money in hardware.

I am really impressed with her skills and she is using a C700 :) I would love to see her shooting with a DSLR I can see great potential.

She can certainly use the camera to take pictures that it's capable of doing.

Getting more control over DOF, the ability to do shooting in low-light without flash, etc. would give her even more opportunities.

But she'd better NOT start shooting country concerts. ;)

That's Daniella's site. She's got a great eye and will probably using a 10D soon. Her boyfriend is getting one.

yes it is but it really is not in some ways. You can give a average joe a Scalpel and he will not know where to make the cut but if you give that scalpel to a surgeon they will know where to make the incision.

Same with music

Give Hendrix a 15 dollar guitar and he will play wonders give the average joe a 1000+ Custom guitar and your ears will hurt.

it does matter. you're seeing her images scaled to small sizes. better equipment (better quality sensor or higher resolution) makes a big difference at full size. a higher quality lens makes a big difference. the ability to manipulate in raw makes a difference.

it won't make her a better photographer, but it will make her photographs better.

She would too, but she's just graduated and is looking for a job. Her boyfriend is about to get a 10D which she will be using, too. That's what she told me. She loves IR photography which is not the 10Ds strength. But she's a great one.

Tools are the enablers of the skilled -- better tools allow them to create better works if the prior tools were the limitation.

What gets lost in translations sometimes is that too many folks seem to think that better tools impart skill. They do not.

So I don't see an issue here -- she is clearly very skilled, and it is also apparent in some images where the equipment she is using is a limitation.

His point is mixed up I guess. No doubt her skill is apparent.

I always wondered why the nails never.... oh never mind... hehe

DA*mm, we're going to the circle again on this issue, I'm kinda suppirse that you can make a statement like that. It's important that you're well equipped to get the job done. On the professional field, you don't want to second guess and you don't want to take the second chance, one of the field trip may cost you a lot of money to get just one shot for your clients, they way your clients want it. Now if you have good skill, and do this for pleasure, you can probably do a very good job for yourselfl no matter what kind of equipment that you use, and if you don't mind to spend money to catch the opportunity for your shot again and again, and if you have times to do this over and over again, you can probably sick back and BS all day long...

I mean look at how beautiful all those places are where she took pictures. She could pretty much have been blind folded and pointed the camera anywhere and still ended up with amazing shots! (hehe... well just kidding of course... but kind of true as well!) I'd love to see some amazing everyday shots without the help of so much subject nature all around!

I love the landscape shots... all shot at f2.8 and still the depth of filed is amazing!!! I did get a 10D just so I could have the shallow depth of field pics, but man... unless its super sunny, you can't barely use f8.0 when you're outside on ISO 100... what a shock!

No, they won't "give" you skills.

But they will give you the tools you need to try to develop skills.

Somebody mentioned hammering with a banana. If you handed somebody a banana to hammer with, he'd never have a chance of developing the skills. If you handed him a hammer, he'd at least have a chance.

Tools can limit you, and keep you from ever developing certain skills.
What gets lost in translations sometimes is that too many folks
seem to think that better tools impart skill. They do not.

Yep, a great subject helps.

Of course, we can still ruin a pic of a great subject, too.
