if you take the time to do something urgent, make sure it is important .............................

One lens will cover the 28-200 range but at an aperture compromise. Depending on budget, how about the 16-35L and 70-200L, with those two and the 28-80, you'll be well sorted. If you wish to ditch the 28-80, go for the 17-40 and 70-200 with the 50 f1.4. As I said, depends on budget considerations

There are two lenses i can recommend :

Tamron 24-135
Canon 28-135 IS USM

Both are good to begin with. The Canon hat IS and USM which means it focuses faster and has image stabilisation. The Tamron is a a little more on the wide angle side but lacks IS and USM.
But i would recommend to go with two lenses :

Canon 20-35 USM
Canon 28-135 IS USM

That will cover 32-216mm, that should be enough to start with.

If you want a WA lens on a budget, try the Sigma 15-30. The 28-135IS is a fun lens, not an L quality, but a nice lens. The same is true for the 75-300IS.

Mario,

I live in Baltimore and would love to take a look at one. Do you know if they had any more?

Thanks,
Don.

mariop:

I just spent the weekend with my NEW 10-D along with the 28-135 USM IS and 100-300 USM IS both of which are NOT "L" , price is about $ 400 each.

The 28-135 performed exceptionally well - even in "macro" mode. I had thought that I would use the 100-300 about 50% of the time but it was actually about 5% of the time.

I will have the photo's download tomorrow and I will post afterwards.

Thanks,
Don.
