Vow, the picture is tack sharp, yet one can see the action/motion. Just look at the rider posture and the horse muslces. Great great image. congrats.

Yes i was panning and as I remember the shutter speed was 1/30.

I was sailing from island to island in Hawaii and was certified "captain."

Most of all, I had a dream and read to sail around the world. Well, You know what? Circumstances forced me to change my hobby. I am glad I am spending time taking pictures instead of sailing. It was quite a dream!!!

I took this the first weekend that I had my D100, with the 80-400vr. I really had absolutely no idea what I was doing, but I was/am generally pleased with this image. I should pull out the NEF and fix levels and such, but I'm lazy so here's the jpeg I made (stumbing my way through PS7). This is my 1 year old 88lb puppy:
