G3 wrist strap

Hi- I had NO luck when I went to the large photo stores in NYC (!!!) getting a non-metal wrist strap, but then I went to some of those junky electronics stores in Times Square...
Some guy took an Olympus wrist strap out of a box (probably from a returned camera) - and it was just what I needed - made of braided cloth with an adjustable catch.
I bet if you go to the Olympus Web site you can probably find what you need.

--I like mine so much I bought another one for my 717. I bought mine on Ebay. The place that sells lensmate adapters also sells them.

The Op Tech MINI LOOP STRAP™ -QD is a great wrist strap. I have one on my G3. It's much better then a neck strap. I got mine from B&H. Here is what it looks like:

Correction mine is the CAM STRAP™ -QD (#2 in the photo).

I have to argee OPTECH straps either the neck strap or the wrist strap.
I have the neck strap (It is a tight fit when you thread the ends through the metal loops on the camera) the neck strap is really comfortable and
distributes the weight of the camera nicley, well worth the money.

I got a Canon WS-20 Wrist Strap and have found it to be pretty sweet to use. Since you're in the States, you can find it here:

You can always do what I did. I went to a real good sporting goods store that sells mountain climbing equipment like REI (in the USA). I purchased some 1/8" cord and a toggle. I now had a heavy-duty wrist strap that I can adjust easily in size so that it will not slip off my wrist.

Look at OpTech CamStrap with or without the QD (quick disconnect). I use without the QD as it only tends to lengthen the distance of the attachment to the G3. You can order from them if you want a specific color etc. and can't get same from a dealer.

Get some nice cord that won't fray and doesn't look like it's from the dollar store. Put one end through the right side loop. Grab both cord ends as if they were a single cord and tie a simple knot. Pull the knot tight on the cord and not the camera. Make the loop large enough so you don't accidentally drag the camera off the counter while taking your hand out of the loop. Stop the cord ends from fraying by adding a simple knot ahead of the main knot. This also makes it harder for the cord ends to slip through the main knot.
Anybody who can't make a wrist strap and use it may as well throw a wad of bills on the concrete, set a match to it and watch it burn because dropping your camera has the same effect.
