Optio S lens and LCD question

Ok so recently I bought an Optio S and I have been taking pics like mad (over 200 already and I have had it for 3 days, as a college student thats a lot of time to "waste")

So anyhow today I was looking at the lens and I saw a speck of dust and tried to blow it off. BIG MISTAKE! Now there is a little itty bitty spit drop on the lens and it wont/wouldnt come off after wiping it. It doesnt effect the pictures any, and I still havent tried to use a wet lens cleaner but what should I do? I am really really new to photography but have a good grasp of technology hence me buying a optio S so any advice would be great.

Also, is it me or does it seem like the LCD gets smudged/dirty really easily? I used a special cleaing cloth on it the other day with some special solution to clean it and it already has some smudge lines again. Unless, its actually scratched in which case I would be thoroughly PO'ed since it is really brand new. Anyhow does anyone have a recommendation for cleaning the LCD?

Thanks Mj

I wouldn't use any kind of liquid on the lens but if you can't resist put a drop on a piece of paper then use a tootpick to pick up a tiny speck of liquid to apply ever so gently to the lens surface. Then of course use a tiny piece of lens tissue and move it around with a q-tip and see what happens. Good luck.

You can't do anything to affect picture quality when cleaning the LCD. With the exception of the Canon G1 thru G3 all LCD's are vulnerable to damage. Worst case scenario you can always return or exchange the camera.

Get a lens blower and brush for any dust. You will have to use some liquid cleaner and tissue to get the spot off, just be careful the lens is coated. Take a close look with a magnifying glass, new out of the box it will look great, over a period of time you will start to see cleaning scratches. But don't worry, the camera can't focus on the scratches (like a pair of glasses). I use a lens pen but the Optio S is so small I need to find a smaller lens.
