Holy cow!!! Have any of you seen how tacky and rude people are in the Canon DSLR forum? Everybody thinks they are a pro there and treat noobs horribly. The Minolta forum has spoiled me over the past six months and I don’t think I was hardly disrespected here. But you know what is really funny? It’s humorous that the Minolta crowd seems to understand the creative passion for photography (and it shows by the pictures you guys post all the time).

I want to stay here with my Canon 10D and to continue to share this passion. I’m not here to brag about my camera, I could care less about our differences in hardware. I’m more interested in the photographer. The Canon forum doesn’t seem to understand this underneath their hate.

If you are interested in why I changed to a 10D, the reason is because I have several quality Canon lenses and a good flash. My intention when I bought the D7i was all along to change back to Canon when they came out with a reasonably priced DSLR. I still really like the D7i and think it to be the best in its class.

I sincerely do hope that Minolta realized that not announcing a release date for a DSLR will be their bane.

So if the forum doesn’t mind a Canon user, then I think
Adam-T and David P are about the only people it's worth taking any notice of anyway there.

I've just bookmarked their profile so that I can look up what they've got to say about various issues. Most of the rest of the opinions I'm not interested in anyway.

What I try to do is confine the Canon chat within a thread, so whereas I would normally post a new thread I make a point of just continuing in the previous one, out of respect for the people here.

I certainly hope that I can continue to be of some help to people here. As you say, this forum is primarily populated by people whose interest is photography, not what kit is used.
Hope you are enjuoying your 10D.
I'd be interested in what lenses you are using.

...the CANNON and other forums. I started in the SONY forum, I read 5 forums if I have time. I enjoy the personality of all of these forums. Seems the competition is stiffer and there is more participants to fight off in the others, because their is. Seeking shelter here and bragging about is redicoulous and uncalled for. I am sick of people trashing the Cannon members, maybe they need to migrate here for a change of pace for a bit??

Please quit slamming and flaming the Cannon people, some of them are good people and excellent pro's. If you can't deal with the attitude I suggest you get off of the net and shoot some pics.

You are correct. There are good Canon members, but anyone can easily detect that the Canon forum is polluted by some very rude people. If you doubt me, just compare the topics between the Minolta forum and the Canon forum. When people have an idea, there is always a "know-it-all" their to slam them and make them feel stupid. But I really don't care about the cameras, I care about the photography and the people shooting photography. My questions will not be Canon related, but instead photography related. Thank you Dave Martin for the insights on who to listen to in the Canon forum.

Truth is; Last night I ventured into the Canon forum (since I have me a Canon now) and was appalled. I'm not trashing everyone there, but the bad element is prevalent enough there to discourage any noob.

If I'm not welcome here, then I will just sit back and lurk (and learn). It's as simple as that, and I really don't have anything else to add on this topic . . . except that I appreciate those here who have been a help to others.

It's funny because just yesterday there was a thread about 10D invading the Minolta forum and converting it into a 10D canon forum.

I personaly don't mind what camera people uses, but on the other end, I enjoy seing Minolta photos and technical discussion about Minolta cameras in a Minolta forum.

I will not bite your head off if you post 10D photos but some might.

The camera is the church . . .the forum is the congregation . . . and the shooting style is the religion.
It's a tough thing to make things just right.

You are more than welcome here, you MUST have missed the other 200+ posts in the last three days on the 10D topic. The topic was about grace in posting, for lack of a better term.

I suggest you read all of the threads pertaing to the 10D the last couple of days. There is enough speak for 7 eons.If there it ain't enough, head back over to your good friends at Cannon Posts like this begin to create problems in a forum. Read the threads and I won't have to go over them.

You say you been here 6 months. Where were you the last few days. Why did you not take this to any of Petteri's or the others threads.

Sorry, my original statement stands.

Steve,

As far as I'm concerned your more than welcome to stay. Personally I don't give a rat's a$$ what hardware anyone shoots with. It's about photographic passion. You seem to have that, as well as many others who are not shooting with a 7X anymore. I'd rather talk to passionate photographers than hardware guys any damned day of the week! Let's face it, the camera is just a tool. The image is what photography is about, not the tools.

Looks like he encountered of the biggest jerk on the planet on this forum...the guy has this bad attitude with everyone...so I would not pay attention to such jerk anyway.

There is an awfull lot of traffic in the Canon SLR forum and hehe...the poor pros will soon be overwhelmed by the avalance of "amators" who just found the 10D to be an affordable little toy...they will have no choice but to cope with these newcomers and the intolerant people will probably give up or get banned if they continue to be so rude.

Hmm. I agree, just pay no attention.

Kinda funny, but sadly true.

I agree, very astute observation Daneilla.

This is a great opportunity for us D7x owners because you guys know what is like having D7x. There is no forum or site where people can talk about their 10D and coming from D7x prospective. The best forum to do that is in this forum. Anyone coming from D7x to 10D surely has something interesting stories to tell.

When D7 came out, a lot of people do not like it because some people came from a point-and-shot camera they find hard to comprehend. For those who able to tame the beast are rewarded with great photos.

Now there is 10D and I've heard it is meaner beast and would really like to know how to tame it.

P.S.

If this forum for any reason you guys find it unfriendly, you can talk to Bryan Biggers and share your knowledge and thoughts over there. :)

...speak. Ivan and I would guess others are going to try an do something about it. Cannon is where you learn about the 10D.

Here is for MINOLTA. Open and News are for pontiffication and other general speak.

Thank You

You bet I’ll share my views of migrating to the 10D with you guys. I’ll slap some realism on it too. Moving to the 10D is not all the glamour that it might seem to be. Be prepared to spend some money BECAUSE UTOPIA COST!!! Be prepared to have less tolerance for error in your shooting. The 10D is a capable beast and I love it, but so was my D7i.

If you do consider going with a DSLR, don’t screw up like I did by selling your D7x. I wish I had kept mine for recreation etc.

If anyone has questions about my experience on switching, then I’ll gladly share my views as I get used to the new camera. Keep in mind as I say all this that I am a noob in the DSLR world.
