is too blah or is it ok the way it is?

Here's a tree with some sap, from my yard, it looks like it's bleeding... so I took a few pics of it, this one I like the best. Would you add something to it or is it good the way it is? It looks a little blah to me.
This pic, other than being cropped a little, is unretouched.

It 's a beautiful image.

I think it could benefit by increased contrast (actually dynamic range for the professors)
try this:
go to image> adjustment> levels
while watching the image do this
just under the histogram are 3 triangles.
slide the rightmost triangle to the left
slide the leftmost (is that a word?) to the right
don't overdo it

when moving the right triangle be careful, if you go too far it might blow out the highlight on the (ugh) bloody sap.

That was my first thought. My second thought was Dave J's noname action, since it puts in contrast and for some reason makes wood look great.
