Some very late light images from London's docklands taken this week, click to widen sample view below.
Larger versions in gallery at the site in my profile.

Many were 30sec exposures, especially the last one which is 30 seconds on London's North Circular, well I like it anyhow :-)

Hope you like / enjoy them and comments, critiques or just chat is most welome as always..

Hello Mark...

Thanks for sharing these night time pix. I love night shots, I just don't find the time to shoot them. My favorite is #3 and #4 on the top row, then again I like #1 and #5,,,, well I guess I like them all !!!
Regards
Tony

Hi Mark,

Nice collage. I especially like the verticals of the sky scrapers. Really nice.

Hi Tony,

Glad you like them, I was wondering around docklands for a couple of hours with my tripod trying to recall if this was where someone said that the city folks get irritated by tripod users .... there are lots of areas which seem to be private estates some of which I think may contain the best views and I think I got there too late as the colour had gone from the sky just after I arrived.

Will pop back sometime I am sure but :-) just for the record, that blackness in the sky is real I have not tried that program you referred me to yet :-)

Hi Mark thanks for that, I like laying out the galleries at the moment it seems like fun .. but its a gallery more than a collage really mate :-)

wrt to the sky scrapers I expect they will look way better as a large print as there is so much detail lost going from a 3,000px x 2,000 px down to less than a 600x400 but there we go ..

Hi Mark,

I finally got a chance to look at your web site a little more thoughly. Very nice work there mate! I love that expression. Except I'm always saying it with my fake Australian accent instead of my fake British accent. I'll have to work on that.

Really nice stuff though. Too many good ones to even single out. City shots, people shots, birds, trains...good composition, color and interest. I can't wait for spring to really get here so I can get outside and photograph.

Nicely done,

Regards,

Mark

Mark,

Beautiful night shots! I really enjoy long exposure photography and it looks like you’ve got down. I think #3 and #6 are my favorites but their all great, sharp, noise free and well exposed (its sometimes very hard not to blowout some lights). Thanks for sharing.

Hi Mark,

The images look very interesting but small here. I would love to have you post a link to the gallery right in the post for lazy people like me who would rather just click than hunt.

Sorry stan,

My reason was that I am not too keen to promote the higher domain name which my pics are in a directory under ....

I guess I should just get a proper domain name for the pics !

Anyhow no matter the gallery is at

an excellent work Mark.
Thanks Martin, enjoyed taking them, its quite refreshing to be tied to a tripod, timer mode and 30 odd seconds of waiting to think about the next attempt :-)
Nice you posted the collage, I'm currently with a slow connection .
I had to connect from a dial up on 28,800 recently and was amazed, I am normally only on 56k but 28,800 was an eye openner :-)
Specially enjoyed the last one, a hard and radical picture that you
wrote with the light.
Hey Martin really glad you liked them I have a few of those big blurs like that one they seem to make just a great rash of colour .. well I like them .. anyhow .. perhaps its all that matters :-)

Can you put anything into that blur thread in here?

I know you have plenty of variety in your pictures, would love to see something from you ..

this post is in that thread

And that Dave1 has galleries that I bet you would love Martin ...

Hi Lance, glad you liked them.

Please post more of yours .. you must be bored with the canon 10d V D60 etc etc discussions in the canon slr forum by now .. I recon you should be spending more time in here mate esp now you have your new cam :-) bring a couple of others if you like !! not all of em though !!

Glad you like it I am enjoying learning about it.

Am looking through your posts (in your profile) to find your gallery to take a look back - return the compliment of spending time looking as it were - but cant find it .. I commented on your macros recently but cant find a gallery from that either .. have to pass .. :-(
I can't wait for spring to really get here so I can
get outside and photograph.
Re waiting for spring .. where in the world are you ? I noticed the accents thing you mentioned so I guess not in the UK or USA ?

I am actually almost of the opposite opinion (no offence intended) I cant wait till I am a rich man (may never happen) to afford one of these pro sealed slr cameras and lenses so I can get anytime in winter - fewer other folks about - and light is so different - then there are the longer days of summer which will I agree be also be good :-)

BTW this guy "Dave1" has surfaced into my vision again .. I used to see his posts in fuji talk years ago, I love his galleries .. you can see them from this post if you have time to look ... I really recommend a look .. really refreshing stuff .. imho

Hi Mark,

You're welcome to look at the Pbase site, but there's not much there yet. When I bought the S2, I cleared all the old stuff off of there and will only post new S2 photography from now on. Haven't had much time to do anything lately. I also have to pay for some space.

Thanks for looking at my "uninteresting" photo's.

Regards,

Mark

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the link. All of the images look super in the slightly larger size. I am certain that even larger prints would look even better. The quality of the images is only matched by the quality of your compositional skills which are easily discernable in this wonderful set of images.

The last image reminds me of a set that I took one evening while driving alone in my car. The gallery is at http://www.pbase.com/stana/highway_lights and contains only 5 images.

I hope to try some prints in due course from the files.

I am not that experienced with printing, my inkjet is not photo quality so I tend to take a CD to the local lab but am not yet very sure of myself when processing from the originals for their printers ... it works fine for small prints ive just cropped to size and not much more but I would like to try some larger and want to get my tweaking sharpenning etc right for the photo printers they use and size of output etc.

Enjoyed looking at those stan, this one in particular caught my eye ..

I was wondering about the link myself :-)

Well I dont know what you meant when you said "uninteresting" above, I am quite sure I have not said that about anyones images.

I already looked at your macros and liked them a lot.

The Cardinal images are great colour (I see no birds like that here in UK) and the one I looked at in large is in perfect focus though the twigs which is not that easy to do as they often only stick about a moment these small critters .. Good stuff ....

Like this one a lot
http://www.pbase.com/image/15138637/large
side view a little less "RED" than the guys front view :-)

Interesting that you removed your old images .. I have on occasion thought about that .. I put a lot of thought into how to add images to my site and it is quite easy as a result but removing them is still a bit of a pain .. from the hard disk version and the server that is .. :-)

What camera were you using before you new one?
