afford to put petrol in a Tank. They even disbanded their Airforce.

So you've got a point....
Believe it or not, the military of the US, being the world's police force, helps a lot of countries as they do not have need of a large military force and it becomes a form of foriegn aid.

Or to use a better word, it's just the US sharing with the world.

A thought to ponder below.

We really do want to help, sorry if our foot steps on a few along the way.

We don't mean anybody mental harm as we've become this giant among the world's community. When we sit at a table, we unintentionally break the chair and then called over weight and clumsy. When we try to stop people from hurting each other, as a good person would be expected to do that have the ability and some people get hurt in the process, we're called hurtful and caloused. And others complain, where have you been, as others say, why don't you leave? We give food, aid and support to the world's hungry but since we have so much, we're called greedy as others say leave and don't come back as the hungry clamor for more and the world sits on their larders. We accept people from all the world in a controlled fashion and since we don't accept illegals in our community, we're call xynophobic and yet ten percent of the US comprises of foreign born and twenty percent of the US is first generation. That's almost one third are new to American soil. We created most of the world's technology over the last fifty years and since we rely on oil, as the rest of the world does, we're accused of being, uncaring, polluters that need to be stopped. The rest of the world is innocent as they continue in their polluting ways but it's the US the world notices as they clamor for out technology and goods.

Now you complain about a war in Iraq with a dictator you claim is our fault in the first place for being in power.

The world won't do anything to stop this madman as they publically sit on their hands at the UN.

Well, Saddam is now out of power, the UN can collective give out a sigh of relief and we won't ask them for any help in the rebuilding of Iraq. That way it's all our fault.

In the meantime, please forgive us for our excesses as we'll continue to help the unwilling and ungreatful so you have somebody to complain about.

Then why is there an issue in someone posting to others to show their images of the American Flag. Why has an exception been put forth to this posting. The posting does not ask for a preference of war or peace. Just to post the flag. The support is for America! The flag does not endose nor does it object to the events of the world either today, tomorrow, a week or month from now. It is our flag. Be proud of it as an American.
I am neither spineless or anti war. I think that this forum should
be a place where all countries and cultures mix within a common
theme. Photography.

Calling anyone spineless because they don't like war is immature
really.

Iraq is not the only place in the world terrorising it's people.
But it's the only one with immense oil deposits.

It's amusing to say the least what you two have been brainwashed to
believe......
You won't find these spineless anti-war people addressing any of
the real problems. They seem to think that anything can be
resolved with talk. They don't realize that sometimes you have to
use force. Talk without the real threat of force to back it up
means nothing and is perceived as weakness by these tyrants. I'll
bet if they were the ones being terrorized in Iraq that they would
be glad that someone was trying to free them.

The other fact that is lost with these spineless anti-war people is
that it was WAR that gave them the right to speak out against this
war. This war will give that right to the people in Iraq. I guess
they don't care if the people of Iraq have the same right that they
are using. Do they think that they could speak out like this if
they lived in China, North Korea, Iran?

a. got a passport?
Yep.
b. Been out of america (and not Hawaii or Guam or Mexico)?
Yes.
c. lived out of America?
No
If not, then your comments and political dribble about leftists is
as Thomas might say, invalidated.
Why? You don't have to be dead to have an informed opinion about
death. You logic is not linking.

If the media was so anti bush then how did he get away with it??
Get away with what? You retort assumes that Bush has 'gotten away'
with something.
The leftists in the world are motivated to howl against the USA for
the following:

1- They don't really care if Iraq and terrorists have WMD because
they will not be the target. The US will be the first victim of any
NBC attack.

2- These people were somewhat pleased to see the US get hit on
9/11. Many think we deserved a comeuppance, and would like to see
us get hurt again because we lack humility.

3- You can't really blame much of the European population for
thinking this way because of what they read in their media. Fueled
by irresponsible Democrats in this country, they believe that our
president is a teenaged moron who stole the election. (Harvard BAs
aren't given away without merit, and Yale doesn't award MBAs to
morons.)

4- Democrats, and hence 95% of the US media, are afraid of any Bush
success. This fear motivates their cries of "What if?" Their
greatest motivation is the 2004 election, which is seriously
threatened by any Bush success in Iraq.

Bush scares these people because he deals with issues in a straight
forward manner, avoids double speak, and ignors conspiracy
theories. Lay out the facts, and Hussein must go. Liberals deal in
emotion, not logic.

When Clinton bombed Iraq, all of the leading Democrats and their
mouthpieces were on the record as being squarely for eliminating
Hussein. Now that a conservative is president, they are
contradicting their previous statements, just so that they can
oppose Bush. Doing so is a betrayal of the best interests of the
USA in favor of partisan politics.

Poor Europe has only the liberal point of view to judge what's
really happening in this country.

Finally, this forum is skewed to the left by the presence of so
many from the arts community. They tend to enjoy conspiracy
theories, and think our leaders are motivated by oil. If the US
was in Iraq for the oil, we would have taken it in 1991.

We can only hope that open minds will prevail, and that the USA
will be judged by our actions after the war, and not by the inane
prattling before.

We recently put up a flagpole in my front yard with Old Glory
riding in the wind. Damn! I wish I had taken a picture!

Well said. Thank you.

I add my favorite Powell Quote:

When in England at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of empire building by George Bush.

He answered by saying that, "Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not return."

It became very quiet in the room.

I hadn't heard this before. What a response. No wonder the room became quiet.

Hogwash. The USA is still a functioning democratic republic with three branches of government and a contitutional process for elections that was followed exactly. The Supreme Court ruled 7-2 that the standards for the proposed re-count in Florida were NOT LEGAL. The media (who thinks they are the 4th branch of government) emphasized the 5-4 decision to not allow a re-count. Why allow an illegal re-count?

Additionally, all of the independent re-counts sponsored by various media outlets showed that Bush held the lead and in some cases increased it, BY ANY STANDARDS used.

You're spouting democratic propoganda instead of using your own mind.

weren't they meant to be counted and post marked before a certain date?

And were they not in Jeb's handwriting?

(this is a joke)
Yes he was elected. You obviously have not heard that all (that's
ALL) of the independent vote counts since the election have
concluded that Bush did win the vote in Florida.

Thomas, is America going to take over the world???
America want's to be left alone. We really do.

The world is no longer far flung in nature. Jets have conquered the distances.

Countries no longer have real boarder as phones have intertwined communications and other then a line on the map, where one begins and the other leaves off, one can't tell.

The world's now one country and nations are now states. Anybody that thinks otherwise is living in the past.

Hawaii was taken over by the Japanese with money. California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas has been invaded by millions and millions and millions of illegals from Mexico. The West Coast of the US has been invaded, legally by hundreds of thousands, infact millions of Asians. Tain't no thang:-)

It's time for the world to grow up, lose their patriotic fears as it's time for the world to get on with what's important; working, having babies and celebrating life.

I can see your valid concerns. My wife and I have had this conversation. So I can see how this would be a valid concern. You can't bet we have conversation about how the world is taking the US over via immigration:-) So don't worry, it's not personal:-)

Again, if the world would act responsibly towards terrorists and see them not as some wacky hero (gangsters) but for the criminals that they are and put them out of business, then there would be a world without terroists and no need for the US to go stomping around. If the world would see world hunger as a worldly problem and not as somebody else's problem, then the US wouldn't need to get involved. If the world would see dictator's for the evil people they are and stepped in, you think we'd get mad? Have at it, go get them bad guys. We'd love the help.

that is the subject of many books and publications and has a generally accepted acceptance outside of America.

The courts now decide who's in Government? It was a sad time.. and now look at the mess.

One bit of good news, my Calumet friend in San Fran tells me Gas has gone down in price.......

My words are best eaten over breakfast......

chomp chomp....

by the way, lighten up...
