Swan from the duck pond . . .

It was looking for something under water, but came up for air.

Still can't get a wild bird yet. But I'll keep trying.

Beacon,I think swans are "Wild": I've seen them in the nesting season
attack people if they get too close.(They have VERY powerfull wings)

and Geese bite! (usually on the butt when you turn your back to them)

I can still see your hand prints around his neck where you held him under until he agreed to let you take his picture...

However you got it, it's a great shot! I love the mid-air drips!

Ok that's it!! I'm tired of all these great bird pics. I guess I'll be forced to go out and buy one to post so you guys will think I know what I'm doing. Lol!!

Well it better be wild Beacon cos I'm visiting a friend for the next couple of days and they tell me they got BLACK swans for me to play with. I hope to get at least ONE acceptable shot to contrast with your WHITE one. But I'll be a bit more caring, and take a tissue or two with me !! How embarrassing that you didn't dry the poor thing's nose .. LOL .. oh btw, I think that's a glorious shot.

you didn't add those drops with PSE?

Super shot - Don't even know where a swan would be in these parts.

... the drips are highly desirable in swan photos ! :) Keep on
trying man ...you'll get a real bird someday...

I just want to learn photography...

Hi Philip: I have the newsletter e-mailed to me and saw the bird pictures but how do I tell which ones are yours. They do not have any credits.

Beacon,
Good catch on the drips. I have a few wild bird photographs that
you might want to take a look at http://www.outdooreyes.com
... but none of them drip.

. . . for your kind comments! It's nice to post a shot, go to bed, and then see all these comments the next morning!

Karen asked what I used to capture this . . . It was unassisted C-2100 UZi. This creature was VERY uninterested in me and it swam quite close to where I was waiting. So, although swans do exist in the wild, I think this one is probably a permanent resident of this duck pond.

And you're probably right, Mary -- the ducks greatly outnumbered the one-and-only swan, but they were all keeping their distance, so perhaps it is really a swan pond!

Even though it's the UZi, I was zoomed in to only 103mm equiv., so well within the range of the so-called 3x machines.

Just a little cropping. ISO 100, f2.8, 1/250, no flash.

I finally had a moment to have a look. That's a very well done newsletter. Is it yours, or are you just a contributor?

I think several of the folks around here that are shooting birds (or wildlife in general) would enjoy having a look at it.

Thanks for the comments and the link.

Canadian Club,

Good point regarding credit on the photographs. I always assumed that everyone would know that they were my photographs unless I gave credit to a subscriber. All the photographs shown on the web site are my own.
