The initial price of the Fuji NP80 battery is ridiculous but Kodak dumped a bunch of NP80 a few months ago for $10 a piece, or a deal at $30 which include a quick charger and two batteries. The NP80 does not seem to last as long as the NiMH do, but for my style of shooting, four NP80s get me by for a day, as I tend never to use the LCD except to review images. I also do not use the built in flash, as I have a good external unit, and the built in flash on my 6900 really did seem to drain the battery quite quickly.Using the same battery is O.K. but getting away from Fuji's
proprietary battery is the best thing for you. The S602 / S602Pro
uses NiMh AA batteries and last for 3 to 4 hours. 2 sets of
batteries and a charger at Wal-Mart cost me about $30 that’s
Add that to the fact I had a Toshiba before my 6900, which also used NP80 batteries, so I was set for batteries and media when I got my 6900. The difference between the two camera was not enough for me to consider to upgrade my 6900. Image quality is the same, though the 602 does have better handling, I just found it not worth the hassle to try to sell my 6900 and then lay out some more cash for a 602. The movie and macro modes never has interested me, and I find the 6900 macro mode to be more than adequate for what I shoot. I've only used the movie mode once, just to see if it worked.
