Could someone recommend a picket camera that can take pictures equal in quality to the Fuji 2600?

Err.. a Fuji 2600? :) The newer version is the 2650, but it's about the same (different memory card). Why not it, if this is the quality you are looking for? Or is it not "pocketable" enough?

I literally want to be able to put it in my pocket. The 2650 does not qualify.

Well, there are different pockets - for example, I often carry the Olympus 2100 in a (large) coat pocket. There are many (shirt) pocket-sized cameras that equal or exceed the 2600's quality - Canon S230, Olympus D40 and C50, Konicas, probably the new Pentax S.

When I compare images on the Comparometer at http://www.image-resource.com the 2600/2650 wins over the S200, Fuji 401, A303 and many others. The C-50 is very impressive but too big.
 
The 2600 will fit in a pocket although it may be a little larger than you would like. I own one and a Fuji S602 and I am very pleased with the 2600. I got it for my wife and kids so they would leave my camera alone, but I have found using the 2600 more than the much larger 602.

Is the Kyocera S3 of any interest ?

I don't know anything about the Kyocera. I wanted to buy a camera from Circuit City so that if I didn't like it I could return it w/o a restocking fee. They don't carry the Kyocera. I am currently considering the Olympus Stylus 300, Nikon 3100 or 2100, Fuji F401, or A303, Canon S200 or 230, and Sony P2 or P7.
