Anyone care to photograph the War?
“War is hell” they say. Is there anyone in DP-Land that actually wishes they could be covering the war as a photographer right now?
Did anyone see the myriad white glass (canon) carted around by all the press photographers the other day? They were outside a Baghdad hotel when a huge group of Iraqis were shooting at the phantom soldiers in the river. I’ve seen some stunning images already, like the American soldier launching the rocket/missile from his shoulder weapon.
Maybe this has already been covered, but I believe we’ll all be seeing some dramatic photographs from this war for the following reasons:
Embedded reporters are close to the action and will remain w/ the troops for long time periods.
Camera equipment is better than ever allowing the photographer greater artistic and technical freedom
DIGITAL! Shoot tons of pictures and transmit them around the world in a matter of minutes
So what’s everyone’s opinion on photography and its place in war?
