Forum Members' Photos at Pbase

I believe we have seen this before. The power of the internet, anonymity.
Like, I don't mean to be starting a troll--this isn't a troll.
hehehehe .... don't you just love a bunch of voices coming out of
no where .... voicing opinions .... which are answered by voices
out of no where .... an anonymous monolog :) .... no offense
meant .... just ROTFLMAO!

Cowdud,

you keep showing your trolling colors. Keep it up, you are so predictably pathetic.
Not sure what you mean. I am not someone who just showed up here....

:-)
Indeed, Melanie, I have enjoyed looking at your work for quite some
time: wonderful stuff .... gifted. But then, you don't post
anonymously :)
People like you and Melinda who are looking to sell their work--no,
I don't suppose you do post anonymously. LOL.

I think Melanie's pictures are a bit better. They're also a lot
cheaper.

Do you get many buyers for those $500 prints?

A legend in your own mind. You make comments on other peoples works
yet are too shallow to show yours. Then hide behind your anonymity.
I have posted my work when I felt it was appropriate at the NTF. I
leave an email address.

You, you're a bag of steam and everyone sees it but you. You post a
thread, then intonate that it wasnt up for opinions,
Not quite, dude. When somebody told me they'd ask for my opinion if they wanted it, I did point out that I had never asked for theirs either.

And I think that someone was you?
when everyone
knows that is the purpose of a forum.
Yep. And when you post links to a pbase site in your sig file in this forum, you're inviting people to look at your photos, and you shouldn't be totally surprised if they comment.

But in the case of your photos at pbase, well, I think it's best not to comment. Sometimes if you can't say something nice, it's better not to say anything at all.

What kind of equipment are you using?

Backdoc's acct looks like the typical Pbase acct..... he has some family, events, outdoor, and very cool shots taken with a CP5700. they all looked to be in focus with good color and composition.

i don't know what you expect from Pbase customers..... i looked at the homepage and nowhere did i find anything about posted pics having to fit into a certain "mold"......if you want "fine art" do a "google" search and look for those galleries. ( POST "PREVIEW" .... take that last paragraph and read it with "anger / confrontation", VERRRYYYY different than intended, i was typing with "concern / thoughtfulness"..... see how the written word can be misunderstood?)

i had "defended" your original post, and i am not changing my stance yet because you have taken some "hits" from people...... but in certain cases you have given them the ammo back to "hit" you again..... maybe humility and thoughtfulness would be the reply to someone who trashed you (?????) but then again, if someone trashes ME, i would go into the same "defense" as you...... maybe the original post was misunderstood by certain people or not understood by me...... they took offense, i didn't.

Good golly then when & if I post any of my photos...I beg you,
don't look at them! Because I have seen some excellent photos at
Pbase...
I have too.
and I have no special photo taking talents like some of
them seem to! I take photos because I enjoy doing it, and because I
want to share a few special moments with others.
Should you ever see ANY photos posted by me, remember, I am sharing
a moment...not a talent! My camera is more talented at taking
photos than I am!
What are you doing? Taking pictures of Fido wearing a birthday cap
with a dslr?
If he is, what is it to you or for that matter to anyone else what he chooses to take with his own equipment. Since you nor anyone else forked out any money to help him purchase that equipment who are you to indicate how he should use it. Pretty juvenille if you asked me.

commenting on others. Where is your photographic expertise? Probably none at all since you are too cowardly to post.

What a dud, as others have seen you to be .

Also, you assume that all what I post is mine, another one of your faults. Your opinion of anyones photos has no weight as you have no credentials or credibility.

Again, you are a bag of steam.

Iam3D

Thanks for the nice words. I just got my 5700 ( duh cowdud how could you ask what equipment I was using, everyone else could see )a few months ago. Had not really done any shooting other than family stuff for a number of years. Used to do lots of B&W, then slides at rock concerts over 20 years ago. A lot of what I initially did with the 5700 was in trying to get used to and use all the different settings of the 5700. More or less "playing around" with it. Have had lots of fun at spring training with it. In 16 years, never brought a camera there, now with digital, so much fun. Isnt that what its supposed to be? For some art, others fun, others memories. For Cowdud, fodder to ridicule ( probably his only talent, though he is even poor at that).

My original response to this thread was to point out that most people use this as a way to share with families, etc. I guess he was upset when I asked him his level of expertise. It was not an attack on him. I reread my original post and do not feel that i attacked him in any way. His response was more of an attack, something that a child would do. That I will not stand for as I never instigated it.

He is but the troll he said he didnt want to be. His posts to others prove that.

P.S. Iam3D - Went to your pbase site and enjoyed your photos. You from the Niagra area? I spent 4 years at U.B.

With a $1,000 camera, I'd hope they're in focus--you can get in focus pictures with one of those throw aways you can buy at the drug store.

I looked at the pics too, and I think it would be better if I didn't comment.

I'm sorry some people took offense, but that's their problem, not mine.

I stand by what I said in the first post.

I didnt say that either. You are soooooo predictable, consistent. The note is clear, yet you still do not see it. Pathetic, but in time maybe you will see clearly. OR, you may be the type that needs a road map his entire life.

Either way, you get more amusing with each post.

Ahh, more insight from the phanthom "photographer" cowdud. So brave as to comment on everyones work, but not post his own or his qualifications or his training. Coward thru and thru.

The one thing everyone agrees on is the last ten words of your post, the only thing you have ever said that was correct.

BTW - you assumed it was a $1000 camera, again you are wrong - you are consistent dud
I looked at the pics too, and I think it would be better if I
didn't comment.

U.B.? University of Buffalo?

no i am not from the Falls area, I live 5 hours to the west in MI, the wife lives in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. we were planning on doing the "vermont / new york / maine" trip when her INS paperwork was approved, so she couldn't cross the border..... since we were in Niagra on the lake, we shot over to the falls for a few days and then on our trip to Montreal to get final approval at INS, i had to make the detour to the falls again...... strange, i'd never even had the urge to go there at any time in my life...... i got there and now it's one of my favorite places...... plan on going back every year or two now...... but NEVER back to Quebec!!

Yes, Univ. At Buffalo. Went there from 74-78. I would love to go and try different exposures, slow shutter/fast shutter - see how it affects the photo.

Have not been there since I graduated. Now I am in South Florida. Havent seen snow in 17 years. Does it look any different?

Anyway, enjoyed your pbase photos. Liked the B&W. I may try that soon with mine, or ever IR. Right now, getting to know the camera. Way more complex than my N6006 35mm. It sort of handles and responds differently too, hard to explain.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Why don't you go up there and take some pictures of it and post them at your site so we can look at your work and offer constructive criticism?

it looks different, i had some "winter falls" pic up there too...... at the Minolta forum we have a "class" going on working w/ imaging software.
you won't miss the snow i don't think.....

i have a friend in FLA at a radio station..... "Anita Wadd" at 98 rock..... she left there to a more "mature" rock station after the baby...... Tampa area.

well, gotta go, Redwings are playing St Louis Blues (up 2-0 now), so i've beer to be drank and hockey to be watched.
talk to you guys later...... yes, that includes you CowDad.

If he is, what is it to you or for that matter to anyone else what
he chooses to take with his own equipment.
Certainly, if somebody's bought a $2,000 or so dslr to take pictures of Fido wearing a birthday cap and snapshots of their kids, shots they could have taken with one of those throwaways you can buy at Wal-Mart--that's their business. And if I want to comment on that kind of thing, after seeing so many links to pbase accounts containing such shots, that's my business.
Since you nor anyone
else forked out any money to help him purchase that equipment who
are you to indicate how he should use it. Pretty juvenille if you
asked me.
Like I said, if they want to buy a $2,000 dslr to take snapshots they could have taken with a throwaway, that's their business. The rest of us should be thankful to them, really, because they increase profits for companies like Canon and Nikon and enable those companies to spend more money on R&D, to come up with better cameras for people who have a clue about how to use them.

Several people asked you to show your pictures. So far you keep avoiding to answer that.

I ask you again to show them so I can see that you know what you are talking about.

BTW what cameras people buy and what they use it for is their business IMHO

regards

Klaas
