I have a friend who does not frequent the forum. For XMas she bought 2 G3s. His and Hers.

Aaron, I don't think your wife would be wise to use the G3 (unless you purchased it on the basis that she would be able to use it too, in which case you are stuck with it for now)
A better option for the wife interested in snapshot work is a cute little camera which will fit easily into her bag. This is the thinking with my GLW, who will nevertheless have a crack at the G3 until such a purchase (an Ixus maybe?) can be made.

And just exactly how does this answer AaroNZ's question? He didn't ask if his wife would be wise to use the G3. I'm sure she's a very wise lady, especially since she's trying to adopt AaroNZ's camera. And he didn't say she's interested in snapshot work either.

I can't help but think this post is just a tad condescending. I have a G2 and love it. Many woman take a greater interest in photography than just snap shots and having a camera that will fit into her bag.

Sorry, please excuse my inadequate attempt at humour, it was in the line of a... If the wife gets her hands in the camera, it is so good, he'll never get it back.., and Aaron said it was supposed to be his toy, not hers, and I was trying to do a bit of that male solidarity thing - but sensitive caring males, not the other kind.....but my execution was poor, and the mischevious grin was not visible and and , oh geez.
It wasn't meant in any way to be condescending (a Greek parachutist), or to suggest that persons of any gender would like anything cute and/or small as opposed to persons of any other or contrary gender, or that the G3 was anything less than ideal for all persons of either toilet door....
So I am going to stand in the corner until such time as I understand what I have said, and I am duly and fully repentant.
