Smart media vs Xd memory

1) I own an Olympus D-450 zoom. Can I use a 128 mg smartmedia card in it? 2. I also own a C730 that uses SM & Xd. What kind of memory card would you recommend buying in regards to the use of both cameras? I love my cameras.

SM cards are cheaper than XD cards of the same capacity, but they can only go to 128mb. XD is already at double that and is set to be increased continuosly up to 8gb, so if you can afford it, go for XD. I also have the C-730uz, but I am planning to upgrade to the C-750uz (out april/may) which only takes XD.

1) Don't know for sure, but I would imagine it would work as the SM format was designed for expansion... I have just been talking to Oly about a similar thing with regard to the xD cards...

2) I got the impression that at least on the Oly cameras that they are phasing out SM in favour of xD, which is why I went for xD. Also, with an adaptor the xD cards can be used in CF slots, which may or may not be of use!!
