extra battery : 40 bucks from B&H
double battery charger: 170 I think
256mb: 90 bucks
case?

Doesn't sound too much like fleecing!

Check the Gateway string . . . they're selling the camera only, 1439 with free next day shipping, although you do have to pay for tax. 3 year Canon warranty including breakage protection for only another 100 bucks or so. I jumped on one today, expecting it on Monday.

I wouldn't call it a fleecing, but a 40 buck battery, a double charger that is about 70 bucks and a 150 warranty for 300 dollars, when you only need the warranty is no deal for me. I already have extra batteries and a charger, and I am not familiar with the warranty company being dealt with.

I'm just not interested in this combo.

It's funny that they have many hundreds of people waiting for pre-ordered cameras at $1,499, but they manage to put them in stores at $1,799!

One of my reasons I didn't order local, we have Wolfe Camera in Colorado too and sales tax would have been $135 on top of the $1800.
