I just recently got a 49mm Lensmate and UV filter that I plan to leave on my G2. Today I received a Tele-Converter, also 49mm. Should I remove the UV filter when I use the Tele-Converter or can I simply add it to the UV filter without loss of image quality. I also have 49mm close-up lens. Can I use these behind the Tele-Converter for macro shots?

Which teleconverter did you buy that is 49mm?

I got an Olympus A-200 from B & H. It's no longer in production but they had new in stock. Generally rated pretty high, but the selling point for me was being able to use it directly with the Lensmate without step rings. It also has a nice feel in the hands and looks good too. Just got it tonight so I haven't taken any shots. Also got the 420EX in the same delivery. The digitial stuff is getting expensive.

Picture of the G2 and lens taken with my old Olympus D-340. Just point and shoot, with perfect focus, exposure, and color at 1/4 the cost of the G2. Getting better with the G2; can now get maybe 80% of my shots as well focused as with the Olympus

That lens looks really nice, I hope it works out for you and thanks for the reply. Black G2, lens, and Lensmate is very rock n roll :-)

I looked at Bhphoto but they don't have any specs for this lens.

Can you share some of the specs and also some information on the vignetting. I would like to buy this if it works well.

Thanks

The A-200 is 1.5x and considered to be a very nice piece of glass for the $$$. I use it mainly for mid range shots as that seems to be it's strong suit. It has less loss of light than the Olympus c-series lenses. It's not a B-300, but it ranks in the upper tier of Oly lenses.

Go here for some comparison tests of lenses including the A-200

excerpt:

"The Olympus A-200 1.5x Teleconverter is another great lens. For a third of the price of the B-300, the A-200 attaches directly to the Olympus C-2100uz with no step up/down ring. As a bonus, the A-200 can be purchased new at B&H Photo and Video for about $85. (price accurate on August 17, 2002)"

Very quick test photos for Olympus A-200 Tele-Converter. No visible vignetting. Resolution/image quality looks very good. Last photo is Tele-converter in front of close-up filters. This tele-converter does not provide a great deal of magnification, but I'm satisfied with the results.
