To all, I have completed a new set of frames and actions. It includes the set of oval frames...both wood and matte....they can be used in the landscape mode or portrait mode.

There are three wood types, and all have the same functionality. I have a complete set of examples available here:

http://www.pbase.com/budguinn/new_actions_frames

a few samples here:

There are 27 different examples at the web site.

The set also includes some Window frames to put your picture in for display. All come in wood but can be easily modified to color...instructions are in the action.

And, there are a few other things
Signature line
Logo action...makes your logo into a brush
Award Achievement Plaque...to send/email to someone....for grins.
Two sizes of the little brass plaque with rivets.

It includes some of the useful frames from previous sets and both the Hayes Island and the Cardiff Bay paint actions.

and, well....some other little things. You can download the new set of actions at this link:

I hope everyone finds these fun and helpful

comments are always welcome

Hi Bud,

I like the frames etc very much. Is it possible to install them in Photoshop Elements "Effects"? I cannot see anything in the menus where this might be done.
Terry.

Terry, I don't know if you are aware, but actions won't run native in Elements.
I have made a set available though....there is a work around...go to this site:

http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/showthread.php?s=9f741e3bcfbd529f7f7b1716014cd44b&threadid=5221

this set has over 80 actions in it.

I'll try to make these available in the future for elements users.

Hi Bud --

Got your last set of actions and like them very much -- lots to choose from. Thanks very much for these now ones. You have outdone yourself again!

TECH NOTE: One of the actions in the previous set crashed my Mac pretty hard, time after time (G3/300, Mac OS 9.2.1, PS 6.01 -- RAM set to 100MB for PS). I just avoid it now (sorry -- I'm at work right now and don't recall the exact action that did this). Has anyone else made mention of this behavior? I don't think it is my machine as nothing else causes a problem such as this (but, you never know -- that's why I bring it up).

Thanks for any light you may be able to shed...

best,

Shudder....let me know which action gives you the problems...I'll try it on my mac....I've got some g4's and a g3...you might email me...I don't always check in forums other than retouching and nikon.

Bud,
Many thanks for that, I'm sure other PE users will be pleased.
Will follow up tomorrow - it's late here in the UK!

Hi Bud --

Sure thing. I'll run it this evening or in the morning and give you much more specific detail, starting with which action it actually is... :)

Maybe this will help:

I install them into my photoshop actions folder....
this..(from my computer)
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 7.0\Presets\Photoshop Actions

Start photoshop. Go to the "window" menu and go down to the "actions" menu and open it....(it may already be open).

It will open a "palette". It usually has Actions, History, and Tools Presets together. Click on the Actions tab...then go to the right and you will see a little triangle. Click on the triangle and a menu will appear....follow it all the way to the bottom and you should see my actions.

Click on them and they will be "loaded" into the palette. Now open your future masterpiece photo.

Go to the actions folder...and click the arrow next to "bud's frames"or whichever action you opened...it should then open and show

a selection of frames. Pick one, any one....by highlighting it....then go down to the bottom of the palette and you will se some buttons one of them is titled play....press the play and set back....it should do the rest. You will need to hit the enter key or use the mouse every now and then. Once you've become comfortable with them, you can then modify or fool with them. I made them so that it would take very little intervention on your part. I assumed that alot of newbies would use these....which is good, we were all newbies at one time.

Well, ain't that just perfect...

I can't get the actions to fail at all tonight. Everything seems to be working okay for now, and all my settings are identical to when I was experiencing the multiple freezes with that one action a couple fo days ago.

Oh, well. Sorry about that...

Well......good. I had tried these things on all of my platforms....osx..os9.1...win xp...ps6 and ps7, but that doesn't mean something might not slip by. If it happens again.....check a couple of things....will it do it on a different pic?...was it a pic with multiple layers or flattened jpg?......maybe we can isolate the problem.

Bud,

I also use PS Elements (an awesome and inexpensive program), and am a fan of your frames/actions work. Looking forward to seeing/using more!

Sure, I can give it a go. Send me an email. I don't mind being a guinea pig, so long as my computer doesn't blow up...
