Okay, after several months of putting this off, I have finally decided to order the Off Shoe Camera Cord from B&H Photo. But I do have a question to those of you familiar with using this. I realize when I use a tripod, this will be no problem at all. But when using the camera handheld (which is mostly what I do), how difficult do you find it to manage the camera in right hand and flash in left. Any tips or suggestions?

Thanks,
Judy

I use the Off Shoe Cord with my 380EX and my Elan IIe (film SLR). Like you said, it works better with a tripod, but it doesn't work too bad handheld either. You just have to make sure you have the settings right (especially the ones that would take two hands) before getting ready to shoot.

Try shooting with one hand and see how it goes...

You didn't mention which camera you have. But with the G3 it's not too hard to have left hand on flash and right hand on camera because of its larger grip. But I can imagine it would be a little harder with the G1 or G2.

But the problem I'm having trouble with is if I want to have the flash on my RIGHT side. I would then have to cross my left arm (holding flash) over my right shoulder. Then it gets harder this way to aim the flash properly.

I am sorry...I didn't tell that I have a G2.

Wow, I didn't even think of the problem if I wanted the flash to come from the right hand side. That will be tricky.

Also, one of my problems now is eyeglass glare. Is it correct that to reduce this problem, you hold the flash up higher or just farther away?

You might want to try a flash bracket like the stroboframe flip or camera flip. B & H also has these.
