The gentleman in charge of the DCS 14n project is a certain Mr. Madhav Mehra, General Manager, Digital Cameras, Kodak professional. I put a call into his office this morning, and told his secretary that I was calling in reference to the status of the Kodak 14n. Curiously enough, he hasn't called back as of 3:20 pm eastern standard time. Most likely tied up at a firmware review. Anyway, I was just thinking that if the other members of the forum gave him a call as well, someone might get through, and could let us all know what is going on, right from the top. Just an idea. I would call him again, but I am kind of busy right now trying to find a good deal on a 1Ds.

This is a joke right?

I don't know if it's a joke or not, but I see it as a better use of time than beating on Jay. In my opinion (who the heck needs that) I don't think Jonathan is kidding.

and looked up your posting history. You weren't joking. You need a life. And a perscription.

Wayne,

Not only is your sense of humor missing you don't recognize a joke when you run across one. The 14n saga is the big joke; one which will probably be footnoted in thousands of marketing major's term papers for years to come.

I think that's cruel. They'll be much more miserable about it not being on dealers shelves than we are. It's only a camera, after all, not a cure for cancer. Live & let live, anybody?

Anyway, that number looks suspiciously like the final launch firmware version....

BTW has anybody noticed that the angrier folks are in this forum, the worser therir spee;loing gets?

Shaun
1-585-724-7410 is Mr. Mehra's number. No Joke. The number that is,
not the camera program. Feel free to give him a call.

I believe it may be time to post Jonathans phone number, and probably links to his local professional associations and the Chanber of Commerce.

Maybe look up some of his present and past clients as well.

I know that I wouldn't want any architecture or photography work done in Sag Harbor based on the maturity and judgement he's been displaying here.

He's a moron. Read his posting history. He proves it with each keystroke. I doubt that anyone who's had personal contact with him is unaware of this fact.

Dude, you are such a dork. Like someone @ Kodak would take the time to call YOU back. Get a clue.

I believe Jonathan, you are one foolish man. Kodak, more than anyone or any company wants the camera in our hands as quickly as they feel it is the best they can produce. Sure, they jumped the gun on announcing the camera. Maybe that was because of their pride, maybe to counteract Canon's camera. Regardless, So What? Get a life.

1st of all.. We have a right to call anyone in reference to a camera esp since its abotu 5K, who has knowledge about the camera... (WITHIN REASON) If I was a dealer I would be calling A LOT to see what the hell is going on.. some dealers have orders for 90 units allready (do that math on that one!!!) and are ready to kill some people at Kodak if their customers return the cameras...

let me tell you this... I was 17 on a waiting list and wanted this camera.. But it just seem that Kodak is screwing up over and over.. 1st by raising the price and then by countless delays then the high ISO images suck...

Oh well... I enjoy my S2 since it works and it is making me money... I really wante a FF 14mp camera, but cant afford the 1Ds (11mp) and the Kodak is well,, UGH in its currect state.,.

And I'm glad you removed yourself from the list so everyone else could move on. So why don't you move on now & let it go?

Based on your posts in the Fuji forum you don't much like the S2 either.....

It feels nice that you have read my posts also :) I check in here so I know how the camera (14N) is doing... To see if they have fixed anything... I am just wondering how many people here have used the camera... Seems most people who defend it have never used it at more then ISO 100 ( I have not used it past ISO 80 since it was locked and this was only 2 weeks ago) Their is no perfect S2 either.. My 1st one had a CCD alignment, but it was fixed in a week. It seems we have some 14N fanatics in here... If you insult the camera and Kodak they say, "why dont you get out the forum and its good your off the list since I am high now" OR they check to see what other forums you are in and find some flaw their rathe then address the issues I stated in my original post.. You do have people going around and saying really ignorant things and they deserve ignorant statments in return, but in many of my post I brough up valid points that need to be address in the proper way.

If anyone says this camera (14N) is a good camera they are right if they are talking about resolution at ISO 100 and lower...

Anyone who says the camera looks acceptable at ISO 400 is fooling themselves... As someone else said, ISO 400 is not considered HIGH by any means.. I have looked at a few images taken at ISO 200 and 400 and in most, the noise is horriable and I would never give a client a picture with that much noise.. NEVER.. No one wants to admit that I camera they defended and put faith in, as to date been a failure, no one likes to admit that their hard work has yet to pay off. I am speaking of Kodak.. But it seems so many user cant wait to say they have a 14MP camera, that they over look the flaws and seems to say, Ill but it now while I can get it and it will be fixed later (maybe?)

I point out errors in the Canon forum (I have only used the 1Ds and D60 very shortly) put I own a S2. I dont post in the Nikon except for lens issues since I never used a nikon DSLR... No one want to let go of the idea that the highest resolution FF sensor has serious issues and Kodak is rushing this camera out the door to make a quick buck.. They are tired of all the phone calls :) and know they will get more sales now then if they wait a little longer... In a thread from Jay, when we aksed why dont they just release the camera even with the problems he said, Kodak will not release the camera untill it meets their high standards and is READY.. Well pressure from the top, overrid that high standard.

If you say the camera in the state it was at 2 weeks ago was HIGH and ready then you either need to stick with CF cards only and ISO80...

They may fix the issue in upcoming months, but it seems that many people are willing to risk 5K on something that they may fix... It the problem is the CMOS it may never be able to get fixed via firmware... Oh yea, the same company(Fill Factory) who made that CMOS chip made had another chip that was produced before they made one for Kodak... That CMOS was scraped because they could never work out the noise problem...

People seem to forget that Canon did work out the CMOS noise problem, but it was done with hardware support, not software and Canon has the paten on it and Kodak can not use anything simular to solve their problem...

I think very few people here understand noise reduction. If your source has a lot of noise (as the 14N has) then you are limited from the start. If you look at the ISO 400 images (an iso many people shoot at) they have a lot of noise.. As Jay has said, those high noise images allready have noise reduction added to them.. So how much more noise can they take out?

I rememer when I was polled by Kodak when they were doing cost anayis on this camera.. They paid a lot of people money to due surveys... I guess I should have clicks lower prices when I filled out the forms, when they asked what would you be willing to pay for a FF high resolution camera..

Looking at the posters name, does the phrase 'get a life' have any relevance here?

If you have any knowledgable info to add feel free but try and stick with the idea of the 14N.. It is nice that you reinforced one of my statements in my post (the one about people getting to emotional and NOT sticking to the subject at hand..).. Thank You..

The issue was problems with the 14N NOT my username... But I guess you could not find anything to note... If you are wondering, the name was a nickname that I used when I was network admin and beat 400 quake player at a gaming convention.. Hmm I guess you never play any games from ID...

"Id

As the baby emerges from the womb into the reality of life, he wants only to eat, drink, urinate, defecate, be warm, and gain sexual pleasure. These urges are the demands of the id, the most primitive motivational force. In pursuit of these ends, the id demands immediate gratification: it is ruled by the pleasure principle, demanding satisfaction now, regardless of circumstances and possible undesirable effects. If a young child was ruled entirely by his id, he would steal and eat a piece of chocolate from a store regardless of the menacing owner watching above him or even his parents scolding beside him."

Does kinda describe a lot of "people" on this forum.

Hmm... I like that one.... I allways wondered if ID meant something.... other then the name of a gaming company...

I am just kinda tired of people not address issues and problems, here and many other places.... You state what you think is wrong with something and hopefully it will get fixed... Seems lately if you say something is wrong people want to crucify you for insulting what they consider good..
