I can see your new to the forum.
This forum is not actively moderated in the sense that other forums
are.
When new cameras are announced and due to be released thsi kind of
thing always happens. It is just a fact of life here. No one is
forced to read any threads they don't want to, so if you see a
topic that does not interest you, just don't click on it.
Things will slow down in a few weeks if everyone gets their camera.
Then we will have bug issues, my 10D AF is no better than or worse
than my D60 and other complaining. With some still wondering why
they still have not gotten their camera. Then when that dies down
there will be rumors of the digital EOS 3 and the circle starts all
over again

That being said, almost anything goes here! But there are too many meaningless threads about cameras that aren't in users hands yet. One or two or ten different ones, I can deal with. When they are all the same, it scrolls the real 'meat' right off the page in 40 minutes!

Manny, it's you and others who are clogging the forum with these posts complaining about people expressing their excitement about Canon's newest camera.
If you think it's bad now, wait until people start getting their cameras and some of the initial rants start happening... stuff like hot pixels and testing for them, complaints that pictures are soft or noisy, people who can't figure out how to use the camera and those who find it their job to ridicule them, lens comparisons and religious arguments for the 28-135IS, wish lists for future models, those who say the D60 is still better and that you'll have to pry it from their "cold dead hands," etc... not to mention more of these negative and pointless posts from people like you requesting, "Please, Phil, can there be a 10D forum so we can talk about photography again?"
In short, give it a rest! I, for one, actually enjoy reading the posts from the excited early-adopters. I read the endless soap operas about Ritzcameras.com and the computer-generated ship date estimates... it's fun. Much more interesting than the equipment bigot posts or the mean spirited bashing of newbies that seems to be always vogue in here.
Some of us like reading the posts about the 10D... all of them. If you don't like it, I suggest you find another forum that isn't all giddy about it if you can. My advice is to learn a little self-control about which posts you read or to learn something of the fine-art of tolerance.

Ken is correct. Censorship occurs when a government steps in and decides what can and can't be said/expressed etc. Regarding the 10D posts, they don't bother me as much as they seem to bother others, I just don't click on them. Everyone is excited, that's to be expected. I'm sure the 10D shipping fever will quickly subside shortly after the first batch goes out.

I thought this forum only had adults posting to it. I was apparently sadly mistaken. It is clear to me now there are also many children posting here also. Can't blame children for posting these childish messages. I guess I'll agree that we don't need a moderator. What we do actually need are a few adults to spank these children when they misbehave.

Although I perhaps wouldn't word it so strongly, he does have a point - the signal:noise ratio in here does seem to be dropping gradually over time. It's much higher in other (quieter, admittedly) forums such as "printing and printers" and "PC tools". Don't know if a moderator is the right answer, though. Perhaps it's an inevitable consequence of popularity.
The "don't read it if you don't want to" argument is only partly valid IMHO: useful threads do tend to get buried very quickly on here, which isn't solved by not reading the dross.
