STOP filling this forum with pointless Posts..........

You don't have to read the noninformative posts.
You have a choice.
The topics you want are still there.

People do need help on lens choices since there aren't very many good reviews - particularly on the consumer level lenses - for the consumer level 10D camera.

The relevent posts are out there.
Enjoy them.

If you ignore the irrelevent posts, then they tend to die away in this fast moving forum.
The sooner this 10D pointless hype phase is over the better.
This board use to be an informative and interesting place to be but
now all there is ridiculous naive post on the 10D.
First there was the baseless speculation on the specs which seemed
to last several weeks and now all we have is delivery dates. What?s
that got to do with the art of photography.....NOTHING!

If people wish to waste there time on boring uninformative posts
fine but do it else where and stop wasting other peoples bandwidth
and time.

No wonder many of the people who use to post here are leaving or
taking the next few weeks away from the forum. By these people
leaving the source of much of the experience and informed
understanding is also leaving with them which will leaves post like:

10D does it have digital zoom......
My 10D is coming tomorrow.........
Is Ritz 10D delivery behind other stores............
10D on the way, deciding on lens,,HELP?

Why the newer members of this forum can't find the most basic
information out for them selves by sourcing it from Canons web site
or elsewhere (Product reviews/spec listings etc) is beyond belief.
Do they expect other people to do the hard work for them while they
just sit back and wait and doing nothing for themselves?
Will they find it too difficult to lift their camera and lens in a
few weeks time and decide to employ someone else to take their
photographs for them???

Who cares if someone is getting their 10D tomorrow or next week.
What interest is that to other people. Just get the dam thing, go
out and use it and enjoy yourselves. If you then find a genuine
problem or difficulty then by all means post a question on the
forum.

Much thanks to Phil for all his hard work on this site and giving
so many people the ability to learn about Photography and the
latest product news but maybe it is time to segment the Canon forum
into different sections. How he does this is up to him but the time
has come to filter out the pointless hype from the genuine
informative views and questions.

...which they didn't know about, a legit question. If you are going to use an example, try one that doesn't thoroughly undercut your point. Their opening question did lead to important and relevant information, thanks to the helpfulness of people on this board. Surely you are experienced enough to have learned that people often use a question to start a discussion about other questions they have? Take care.
i think oscar is right...

take a look at this post and tell me why this needed to be posted...
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1019&message=4583218

i know the search is down here, but it does work at bhphoto.com as
well as adorama.com... there was absolutely no need for this post
at all, and this is just one out of MANY useless posts that show up
here almost on hourly basis...

I don't know how close this is, but since no one else answered I'll take a shot.

A troll is someone who throws out some controversial post trying to get as much reaction stirred up as possible. They seem to want the 'fame' of being at the top of a long thread. For example going to the Canon thread and saying "canon sucks" jsut to see who you can get mad...
See Troll used alot in the forum. I know it's NOT a good thing, but
what is it?

Thanx!

If you bothered to read your own evidence you would have seen they ended up finding out about card readers. You didn't even bother to check before asking me. Do you see how you might be more tolerant of others in the future, given that you are exhibiting the same behaviour you are complaining about? Take care.
because the one i linked has nothing to do with card readers, and
more to do with 1d battery...

50.1 I would have to agree with Pasha here. The questions that were asked by the poster he's referring to were just plain lazy. With very little effort on their part, they could of figured the information out on their own.

and i'll show you why...

the link to the thread i posted deals with a replacement battery for the 1d... not the third party or aftermarket equivalents, but simply an extra battery for the camera... this is something that's not only readily available on canon's site, but if you go to bhphoto.com and type 1d battery in the search box, the very first result is the battery with part number and price... this is exactly what the poster asked for, and it's just pure laziness on their part not to check this out before posting it here... would you agree with me that this part of that particular post is absolutely useless?

i do see your point about how it possibly "evolved" into a productive discussion about card readers... but you're wrong here as well... dug in deep in a thread about a 1d battery this discussion benefits no one but the original poster of the thread... this, of course, would be fine if the same poster didn't already ask the same question a few hours earlier here:
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1019&message=4577162

i think the anwsers he/she got were pretty good... i know i did my best to contribute... take a look at the link i just posted and tell me, was there a reason this same question was asked again?

...that explains why the term is used so often. Lots of Troll activity here.

Thanks Texan.

While the forum is being taken up by people who want to know if the shade of black that the 10D comes in is better than the color of the D60, you can ignore them, get on with some PHOTOGRAPHY and not spend time on this forum.

I'm a self-confessed technogeek and even I'm bored with the constant unnecessary posts, but let them go ahead and post what they like. Just wait to see if they actually post pictures taken with the gear they claim to have ordered.

Yeah, it's a pain when people keep opening posts asking "what's the best all-round lens for the 10D" (last time I looked they WERE all round) when they could check for eariler posts with almost exactly the same question. And they can't blame the search engine, the mark1 eyeball is good enough if you bother to take the time to do your own research. But these people are like that with everything and you're wasting your time trying to change 'em.

But the answer is simple - ignore the people who don't have a life and descend into making vindictive personal attacks, and do look at the pictures that some real photographers have posted using the new gear. That's valuable and may preserve your sanity. And there are still a few good posts around.
It'll all quieten down in a few weeks' time.
