Why is it that my images on a card are about 400KB but, when I transfer them to Adobe PhotoDeluxe, they become well over 5MB? This really eats up my hard drive!

I am using a Lexar parallel port Digital Film Reader to transfer.

I really need help with this problem!

400Kb is in JPEG compression. 5Mb is the actual size. So there is nothing wrong with it.

What you're encountering is normal with PhotoDeluxe and I don't know if there is any way around it. I think the reason for it is to obtain optimum results with a decompressed image. There are many other imaging programs available that are less demanding in the memory department. While PhotoDeluxe is a top notch program you may want to try something less exotic. It's my personal opinion that PhotoDeluxe can be an overkill unless the images are really lame or need very special effects applied. I currently use the Camedia software that came with my c2000 and find it adequate for my needs. I may be easily pleased but I feel that very few if any of the pictures taken with my D-340L or C2000 need extensive image manipulation.
