BP512 fit into BG-ED3?

Can you please tell me if the newer BP-512 batteries will fit into the 10D/D60's battery grip?

I purchased the BP512 as it was considerably cheaper than the BP-511, hope I didnt make a mistake!!!

I'm sorry to say it will not fit, due to the fact that it does not have the groove down the middle. It works on the G2 and G3 and a few video cameras only.

My BG-ED3 arrived before the 10D. The battery slots have the groove in them that aparrantly only the BP-511 have.

And the 10D.

They might make a silent upgrade on the BG-ED3 to take the 512, it's just a change in the plastic casting, but I wouldn't count on it.

I have a battery whose label states "for Canon BP-512" that has a groove in it and fits and works perfectly in both the camera and the grip. However the sales receipt from the Battery Barn calls it an AC-511, so I'm not sure which it is.

I have the canon optura 100mc as well which uses the 512 and 511....got a douple of each of them with it...so will buy a couple more of the 511's...Also got the double battery charger with it so that will be nice as well....

And the 512 is supposed to work on the 10d without the grip....as the specs say 511/512 so mine are at least interchangeable that way...t

Does Canon make a double charger for the BP-511 batteries? I will have a total of 3 batteries and dont think I want to charge one at a time.

Could you please supply the link to where I can purchase a double charger for this battery?

Yes, the CA-PS400. Shipped as standard equipment with D30 and D60 cameras. Understand that these charge one battery at a time; it's just you can hook up two batteries and it'll automatically switch from one to the other when the first is charged.

As for where to purchase; try the usual camera equipment outlets. B&H shows them as out of stock, I have no idea what the availability is.

I'm sure there are also 3rd party chargers for the BP511 battery, try some searches on Google or similar.
