I'm now on my 4th Lexar FireWire CF Reader.

The problem I've noticed is that on a Macintosh under OSX 10.2, the date-time of all the pictures on the CF card is 5 hours earlier than the actual time the picture was taken. Under OS 9.2, the correct time is displayed. What's interesting is that my offset from GMT time is 5 hours.

Lexar is trying to blame this problem on Canon - Since all my cameras are made by Canon (D60 and S45), I have no way to know if they are correct or not. It sounds like BS to me.

Was wondering if anyone has noticed this problem?

It has nothing to do with either Lexar or Canon. It's Apple's fault; it's an OS X problem.

I guess you've noticed this same problem.

Any solution or work-around?

BTW, FYI: the date/time on file's EXIF is correctly set, even though the date/time on the file is not in the Finder.

Have you tried operating the Mac in Classic mode?

Yes - as my original post indicated - it works fine under OS 9.2

What I'm curious about is if this problem has been discussed somewhere previously - maybe on DPREVIEW??
Any solution or work-around?

I also have a D60, S45, and a lexar f/w card reader using a Power Mac. The problem I'm experiencing is the time of my import is hours before my original picture was taken.... NOT POSSIBLE....

I found a utility called Curator from Caffeine Software that has a function to reset the File Creation date to the date stored in the EXIF information. I tried it and it worked fine - (although it created lots of little .curator cache files all over my hard drive - a minor inconvenience).

I'm curious if this is a problem accross the board with all readers, or just with the Lexar unit.

I'm using a PCMCIA adapter on a Powerbook with OS X and see the same thing. It is not related to the reader.
