What is the lens you use most of the time for wedding photos?

Thanks

Steve J.

I'm not afraid to say...

but actually I don't know! I used to shoot 35mm with an 85mm 1.8 - full FOV. Then I shot with a D60 - 1.6 FOV so the 85 was a bit long, so I used the 50mm 1.4 alot more. Now, I sold my D60 and bought a 1D (1.3 FOV), I'm expecting to go back to the 85 some, but I'm also giving the 70-200 2.8 a try this season.

I believe many photographers use an 85, either the 1.2 or the 1.8.

Hope it helps.

Greg

That is probably a closely guarded trade secret of professional
wedding photographers.

I don't do a lot of wedding/event photography, but the 28-70 is the lens I use most often when I do. Other Canon wedding photographers I know use the 28-70 most, too. The normal range is a good one for this sort of thing, and the f/2.8 zoom is fast enough to pick up ambient light and background detail for indoor events.

You might want to check http://www.zuga.net -- a lot of articles/info re wedding photography there.

It was the 28-70 2.8L until I replaced it with the 24-70 2.8L in December. Either does just as well and renders nicely consistent and sharp color rich images. It's just that focal range that seems to work best when on the run.......

You need a full range of zooms, plus fast primes.

You really need to train to do weddings. It's confusing, complex
and you need to take charge sometimes. There are several great
week long schools that are pretty cheap.

David,

where are these schools? I might have to check into one (sort of like Betty Ford).
Seriously, I would like to scope them out.
Thanks.

Tamron 28-105 2.8

great lens w/ terrific range, Good sharpness, and the constant 2.8 is a God send.

Best all around lens I've ever owned - and there have been a lot.

I heard nothing but softness for this lens. Can you post some samples, preferably with f/2.8?

thanx
