Have allways used smartmedia cards with out any bother.

Decided i would buy a Sandisk 128meg CF card, inserted it into my S1 and it worked perfectly (for two days only).

Why does the cf card no longer work?

Yes the camera will format the card, its just that the photos i take dont get stored on the card.

The camera goes through the motions of saving the card, even goes to the trouble of updating the amount of shots remaining on the card but it just wont store/playback the photos.

Swap back over to smartmedia and everthing works fine.

Confusing!

Hi Derek

I have heard that all cards can potentialy go bad. I have used both lexar and Transcend with (knock on wood) no problems. I reformat the card every time I clear off photos. The Transcend was a pretty good deal, 256mb for around $100 I think. The people in the know, at Samys camera recomended the Transcend and said they (up to that point) had had no returns for bad cards.

IMHO it's best to pay a little more and go with known brands that have a good track record. Even still there is no guarentee. I'm always nervous untill I can offload the images to a computer and burn a cd b/u.

Hope this helps a little
Craig
PS
Did you try reformating the card in another camera?

I did buy a know brand - SANDISK

Nope didnt try formatting in another camera as i dont know anyone locally with same camera, not even the shops have them.

Make sure you don't have a "recycle bin" on the card, as some computers wills place a recycle bin on the card. The bin will take up space, preventing additional pictures from being added.

Check the Fuji forum.. The folks that have the S602z seem to know the answer for that model and it appears there problems with CF are the same as ours.

Some CF cards won't work at all on a S2. I had a SimpleTech 512 and had to return it. A Canon 16 did work. So I checked around and got a Ridata 512 and it is fine. Just know that some makes don't work. JE>

but, did you set up the camera for the CF-Card in the Setup menu?

The S1 is also a little bit tricky for CF´s. I had some problems too, but Sandisc should work.
