Can I say farewell to Nikon?

Take the D10 in hand

Pick a "spot"

Walk up close to the "spot" and take a reading while holding the AE/hold button.

Then

Walk back to the spot where you wish to take the photo.

Done!

Spot Metering in any camera (Canon, Nikon, Leica, Contax, etc) is an advantage. Once you have used it (or if you have used it) I think you would miss the functionality.

Strange how no one seems to be pointing this out as a flaw or
disadvatage compared to the D100. Jury is till out for me. I am
buying a DSLR by May or June at the latest, though.

Totally doesn't make sense because it doesn't relevant to my photography and pictures output.

GH
If they dont even say thaey have a new DSLR cooking and wait until
mid year they will lose a ton of pros and new DSLR type owners to
Canon lens mount. Hope they do somthing quick as competition is
needed to lower that darn expensive 1DS down to a lower price.
PMA annual show will last from March 2-5. Today is march 3. Only 2
more days, so far Nikon has not given any news about its SLR. Can I
say farewell to Nikon?

Couldn't live without it in my film Cameras, but when working digital I actually find it much more useful to work with the histogram of the review image; this way I can balance between getting a correct exposure and making sure that I don't blow the highlights more than necessary.

Cheers,

You see, nikon has equiped this new machine with built in C-4 explosive charges. When the camera over heats, it simply self destructs.

This is their way of, as one Nikon CEO recently stated, "weeding out" all of the undisirable consumers. Sort of a natural selection thing.

Consider me "weeded!"

You forgot to add to that usless list and Leica garbage the Contax
garbage with their equally usless Carl Zeiss lenses. Yep - time to
trash all my Nikon gear.
Absolutely you can say goodbye to Nikon. We all know that the D100
and D1x are useless. It's impossible to make any money with these
beasts and both are an embarassment to the photographic community.
Certianly both had their day -and that was about 2 months ago, but
now that Cannon has announced a better camera, anything less than
that is absolutely pointless.

If I were you I'd sell off all my Nikon gear before it becomes as
useless as all that Leica garbage which is also far behind the
times.
Oh my gosh, I have just read these threads. Is it true !! I guess I
best trash the Hassleblad as well, I mean, it is even older than
the nikon.
Come one folks, you can't just trash your old camera equipment. There is lead and mercury and all sorts of horrible stuff in there that will poison the environment for generations to come. Save your children if not your self and call a professional to remove these items safely from your homes.

You can email me at [email protected] with a list of your most dangerous items and I will gladly remove them for you.

My rates for Nikon stuff are most reasonable. Hassy's are double. Sorry.

Thread starter is a 2 post troll, enough said.

The camera is a tool, the photographer is the artist. It ain't relevant to compare things like this, Nikon can be late to introduce a new, worthy replacement for all I care, so long as I still get excellent results with my gear.

The best way to handle these is just to have fun with them and not take them seriously.

HA!

Thanks for the laugh! I needed it!

Plus, I'm willing to "shoulder" the load to remove such dangerous equipment!

Looks like their losing the grammaticaly incorrect, poor spellers...no big deal.

If every "Nikon' user is going to jump ship due to the Pma, then good, that means I won't have to fight as hard for the 24-120vr when it comes out.

If you're abandoning Nikons - I for one would love to purchase all your old lenses! Feel free to shoot me a message.

If you are going to write something like this, you simply must use spell check yourself on spelling and use of words like "their" and "grammaticaly." And please don't judge any of my postings by that criteria!

Tim,

It could compete against the 10D at $1499 because a good portion of
the D60 updates that make up the 10D were already available in the
D100. People that think the D100 is now trash because canon
upgraded the D60 crack me up; it was a good camera 7 months ago and
it's a good camera now!
I'm still confused as to why the D60 prints look better than the D100...smoother and sharper and the color may be a little better but maybe it's in the software. Seriously, I thought real hard about getting a D60 and a few lenses instead of the D1x. I own a ton of Nikon stuff including the D1 and thought those D60 shots looked pretty good.

I'll bet your pics with the 10D will be so much better because it
is the latest and greatest camera...That's what makes pictures
better...

Teski
Sometime the latest is the greatest...falls in the line of progress and any business that needs the best tools gets them. If you are not a Pro or have no competion I might agree with you. I'm an artist but it means nothing while I'm out in the field slugging it out with other photographers after the same ring I am.

Are you a Pro? Ok...none of my business. I'm just not sure why a person in the business would bother with name calling or doesn't need the best tools to earn a living. That's what this debate is really about. If you need 8fps to survive you get it.

how long ago is the D100, or 14n been out ?

The day D1X/D1H been out, canon user may have been ask " Can I said good -bye to Canon?" , It a samething !
