Sharing some good news

Folks- I shoot more sports than anything else. I tend not to post them here as it's usually with my D1H. I did share one of my son wrestling a few weeks back, in the proud papa category. (I'm sure Phil will be adding this soon). So....I had the chance to submit a bunch of my wrestling pics to a local sports photography group that covers the 2 NY NHL teams and a all sports including college and HS. They've offered to hire me to shoot for them!!! I can't tell you how thrilled I am.

I won't find out details for a little while, I'll share them if you'd like. But man, photography, sports, and there gonna pay me for this?!?! Had to share with my photo friends.....Peter

A word to the wise: don't be tempted to sell yourself short just 'cause it's stuff you like to do, ok? (if you do, you'll never get "proper" rates--whatever they may be--from them after that).

chasg- Thanks very much. I'm smiling too. That is good advice. For one, there are too many good photographers, (better than me) trying to make a modest living. It would be totally unfair to take any paying gig for less than a fair wage, thereby making it harder for everyone to survive. I won't do that....Peter

At first I shot JPEG because I was naive and wanted quantity over quality.
Then I shot RAW, because I was still naive but wanted quality over
quantity. Now I've gone back to JPEG because I'm no longer naive, and I
want both quantity and quality.

Thanks, man. Hope such a beak comes your way too. The staple lens will be the 80-200 AF-S. I'm sure I'll find use for the 300/2.8 The little I've talked with them, most of the shooters use canon 70-200, occasional 300 and 400 2.8, they have one all D1H shooter like me, using the 80-200 AF-S mostly. They tend to use strobes and high shutter speeds over 300, so a high speed strobe synch is necessary.. I'll pass on more info as it comes if you'd like. Say, did you want to lend me that 70-200 AF-S VR, talk about jealous! Anyway- I'm, off to shoot another wrestling tourney- talk to you guys later....Peter
