BEES!!!

The first 2 were 48mm fl f5.6 @ 1/1000 ISO 100 15 to 18 inches flash set on normal but with foam plate material as a difuser.
Were you across the yard? I'm surprised you had enough DOF to keep
the whole bee in focus ;-)
hmmm, wonders happen....
+4 and +3 and TCON - still aprox. 7-8 mm of DOF.
would really appreciate a pic with EXIF info to learn from this.
thanks in advance.

I know this bees brother, he was in my brothers garden last year, and I had his aunty in my lounge room just a couple of months ago too ......wow what a small world :) hehehe

Those are two very very very nice shots you have there, that's looks like the same type of bee we get here in Australia.
Thank you for sharing......... Skippy (Australia)

Diopters are known as close up filters,, Hoya sells them in sets, +1 +2 +4. I also have a +3 quantaray (ritz brand) closeup filter, On these shots I had the +4 hoya and the quantaray under an Olympus TCON 14b which is a 1.4x tele-extender similar to the b300 that is popular with a bunch of sony 7x7 users. The closeup filters allow you to get back a foot or so from the subject instead of inches. Using those under the tele gives a little more DOF. (not much)....
Thanks for sharing the shots and the info.....however...the
equipment you described....what exactly is it?
Thanks
Aron.

Can you please say it in english? Coz I'm in front of a sales clerk now and I would like tell him what exactly I need to buy. j/k. Im looking at B300, do I need a ring or adapter for my 717? Does this thing do a macro shot at a farther distance or does it also give you the possibility of extending the zoom for tele.

Thanks for all the input.

Cheers!

The 14b and b300 are not intended to be used as macro lenses.. Using them with the closeup filters allows a little more depth of field. The set of 58mm hoya closeups is about 45bucks. The focus distance for the closeup filters alone is about the same as with the 14b. You can be a foot or more back instead of having to be 3 inches away. I am not sure about the end size of the b300,, the 14b is 62mm and requires a 58/62 stepup ring to use on the 7x7s.

in plain english its for tele, right? In away for me, the "bees" look like macro shot, yeah?

therefore Im not buying the Hoya closeups anymore, if I can get the same effect in b300..

How about vignetting issue on B300?

"therefore Im not buying the Hoya closeups anymore, if I can get the

but you cannot get the same effect with the 14b or b300 by itself,,the tele-extenders b300 and 14b can only be used for macro with the closeup filters (macro) stacked under them.

aaarrrrghh. My head hurts now... Why did you say " ...The 14b and b300 are not intended to be used as macro lenses.. Using them with the closeup filters allows a little more depth of field...."

sorry for all the troulbe but I dont want to spend too much on extras... Thanks for clarifying again.
