Got only as far as front yard. Haven't a clue what this weed is, but it's prolific in North Texas and the lawn freaks hate 'em. (It's obvious to the neighbors that I'm not one of that cult.) Weed is only about an inch across and grows, like a ground cover, to no more than about 6-inches high.

Fome-Cor is great and I love it but it can't save a mediocre shot. Sorta like trying to sharpen an out-of-focus image, but I ain't ready to cry "uncle" yet.

I tried my very first Fome-Cor posting at about 22:00 GMT (that' 4pm my time) and got this message from the dpreview webmaster: "An Error of the type Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers has occurred." ;-( Maybe somebody needs to consider Apple servers, etc.

bob....nice shot...maybe just a tad of usm.......why is it that a plant is a week and a flower is a flower? I mean at what point, or what does it take to be a "weed"?

I've still got to get my foam core.

Sorry, Frank. I'm so obsessive that I can't help using the trade mark name for the original product. It's sorta like Frigidare and regrigerator used to be sometime back before dirt. :-)

I 'spose I've blown any chances now of ever getting into the club. sob
I'm gonna get out and get me some of that Fome-Cor tomorrow - I
want in that club.
First, repeat after me.... FOAM CORE.

Bud, I think that in this case it's a pest that takes over the lawn even though the flower is really kinda purdy.

Thought I better add people so I'm a little more politically correct... (right mightnight)

After pestering Uncle Frank most of the day I finally found a chuck of this board stuff at the John Deer tractor dealer. Dam this stuff it hard to find...

I think the peice I got myself could look after the background on this little baby.

So now... what do I need to do to get in the club... There is not a snowballs chance in hell that I'm going to find a flower in my country... (-39) with a wind tonight.

So can I use this board to take something else or do I need to wait till spring (some time in July)??

I think the PC term is now 'native' not 'weed'...;o) If I were more industrious I'd look up it's 'official' name in my 1001 weeds book.. er, I mean my Texas Native plants book... but I'm not. We have literaly hundreds of them in our front yard... course they're under about 3 inches of water right now. Don't know about you but if it doesn't stop soon we may be using foam core/fome-cor to float on....

As soon as ya'll find out what it is, let me know. I've got a backyard full of it. That and dandelions. I know dandelions...., you know, makes little parachutes and you blow on it so you can have more....:-)

It looks like it may be a mint. Is the stem square instead of round? If so it is a mint.

To a gardener: A weed is a plant that is growing where it is not wanted. One person's weed is another person's rose.

Yup. The stem's square, but if it's mint, it sure is a stinky mint. Wrigley wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole unless there's some post processing secret stronger than PS7.

Mints have square stems, opposite leaves, and most have an aroma when broken up..........no necessarily a good aroma. There are alot of mints that grow as "weeds" in lawns. I am only familiar with eastern ones so couldnt help with one from Texas.
